We had a couple of troubles in the family since our baby went to the hospital. ....but in the end EVERYTHING went fine (thank god). Now for my question: What hapened to those searchlights?? look at this old thread: http://www.fightersquadron.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001505.html cheers gt

Het GT, I'm really glad eveything OK now, really good news buddy As for the searchlights, for my ideas it depended on shadows being cast in the direction they are placed in OPS, ie usually placed below the aircraft, I was thinking that if I did a white shadow and placed them above the searchlight, and the searchlight on a DOF like a gun, that the shadow would cast where it was facing, ie upards and therefore onto the bottom of aircraft, well, this isn't the case, they always cast downwards, so that blew my idea out of the water in one go Maybe someone else might have ideas but I'm lost. ~Nat~ IP: Logged |

Simple,When I made a file refrence on the B-17 to point to the P-51... (Thus the P-51 was attached to the B-17) the P-51s shadow did not cast all the way to the ground. Instead it cast just below the P-51 where it was located in OPS... What caused this???? No clue.... But its the technique that counts. Add a file refrence to the search light vehicle that points to another vehicle with that spot light shadow. Then just move the spotlight shadow in OPS where ever you please. P.S. Welcome back gt!!! I fixed your Italian pilot so the parachute works. (Have a look in the downloads section or at simfiles) [This message has been edited by ArgonV (edited 12-06-2000).] IP: Logged |

thats the problem Argon, you can't cast a shadow upwards, although you can cast a shadow on anything you fly over, it will only go downwards, I went over this with Mighty, it's that good ole code thingy againIP: Logged |

Nat, heres what Im talking about. That shadow is above the B-17/P-51D combo. The only problem is I dont think it will actually cast on anything. It will just remain in that spot. IP: Logged |

now I see what you were saying before... it's working along the right lines though, but this really is a toughie..is the shadow casting from the 51 onto the B17 but showing up there because of the position you put the shadow models? or if the B17 weren't there, would the shadow cast upwards to it met an object? Hmmm... as far as I know its up there because of where I positioned it in OPS. If I detach the P-51d from the B-17, the shadow stays there but the P-51d also gets back its origonal shadow that casts on the ground.IP: Logged |
