The post on the Merlin got me thinking-

How many of you guys have seen the pictures of the B-17 sporting 4 Allison liquid cooled engines (same ones used on the P-38)?

Check out the Wright-Patterson AFB Museum website. Since the merlins were in demand for mustangs, the plane never (no pun intended) never got off the ground production wise.

I've seen it. Also, I've seen a B-29 with four Allisons. (Really eight, four double ones!)
