Are there any plugins to convert *.3ds files to the *.sm format or something??? Or does OPS read 3ds-files???

Donīt think so. The way you get your 3d-models into OPS is by exporting them from Max as OBJ.-files and then import them in OPS.

SM is not a 3D model type, it's the Openplane file type. You need to get to the stuff inside the SM file. Think of the SM file has peanut. You don't want the shell you wants inside. hippies OL extractor gets to the stuff inside but you need AC3D to open the stuff. there is a plug-in to export stuff in OBJ format for MAX and OPS does support importing of OBJ files. I'm not a MAX user (YET) so i don't know where to get that stuff.

the plugins you need are Max2Obj and Obj2Max, use a search engine on those terms and you'll find the easy enough, you need both since one is for importing obj type models exported from OPS and the other will export Obj from Max for importing to OPS, check out my thread from last week about texturing in Max, it will tell you what settings you need for theObj export from Max to work properly.
