I installed pp6, everything's working fine (so far) except I noticed that only E4 shows in the game, and there is a folder for "bf109e" in Aircraft, but putting skins in there doesn't do anything.

What folders do I need to create to be able to customize E4 skins? What happened to E7, no longer in the game??

All the 109's are in a folder in the Media dir, called "Oldaircraftpp6"

Change the bf109e folder to bf109e4. My installed version shows bf109e4 so I'm not sure why you have bf109.

Dogma, could you check the installer for this.

The 109e7 wasn't part of the plane pack previously. Should it be added?

The folder should be named bf109e4, as mine was by default.

E7 is going to be done later. It has an old old FM and doesn't really look like the real E7.

I'll convert the E4 to the E7 and send it to you spin when it's ready, along with a few other updates on some planes.

Thanks for the info... Yardstick - what are the proper tif names for the main skin files? I'm working with some old, old skins at the moment and they're being rather ornery.

I tried renaming my bf109e folder to read bf109e4, no luck.

"C:\Program Files\Fighter Squadron\Media\Aircraft\bf109e\textures\"

"C:\Program Files\Fighter Squadron\Media\Aircraft\bf109e4\textures"

are what I've tried so far. Filenames for skin are:

wings & misc: bf109e2.tif
fuse, prop, wheels: bf109e.tif

Please help, the 109e4 is one of my favourite planes and I can't reload my schemes.

Rename them as bf109e4.tif, bf109e42.tif

The only difference between the Bf109E-4 and e-7 was that the E-7 could carry bombs and had a pointed spinner. As the E-4 that we already have in the game can carry bombs it seems a waste of effort to create an entirely new aircraft that has a pointed spinner as the only difference.

Thanks Aladar, that did the trick.

Btw, I agree with Yardstick - perhaps 4 variants (E,F,G,K) are enough for the 109?

I's sure like to see an E7 as well, It's not like it's going to cancel anything else out right? There's now 6 Spitfire versions and there might even be more coming so, why not an E7?

yeah! a D would be good. That would complete the set of wartime 109's nicely! Would need a tweaked 3d model to get that deeper chin radiator though!
