Have you seen the hidden terrain for SDOE called "MVworld"? It's kinda strange too, took my B17 for a fly around it, lots of mountains and castle-like structures.

Hehe. It's someone from Parsoft/Inertia trying to figure out the ballistic properties of the 'Cows' loadout for the B-17.

No, that's not a geck. It almost looks like one, but upon closer scrutiny one easily sees it's not a geck but a sheep.

Hey all,

It's not much really, It looks really strange too...it's about 15 x 15 miles, quite bumpy and brown and it has lots of strange structures.

Anyway, you probably want to know how to get it? Simple. Use the BigMunger, unbig the Data files that came with SDOE. For example, DATA1.par, DATA2.par and DATA3.par.

It's been a long while since I found this out, but I can remember that in the terrain folder, you should see a folder called "MVWorld". The sm files are and tifs are in there if you unbigged the right par files. All you need to do then is make a reference to that terrain in the mission editor. Make a mission, and fly!! (I'm not sure if all the SDOEs released in different countries have this though...I've the Aussie version)

It's not really a big bonus though...it's more of a fiction terrain than anything. But maybe someone can re-texture it?

Funny,

Just yesterday I was looking at data2 and 3 and noticed MVWorld, I wondered if it would work. I was trying to figure out the files that are needed to activate some of the targets that aren't selectable in the mission editor.

This is a neat discovery - I thought it wouldn't work.

Hehe,

Actually, if we can figure out a way to get rid of those awful....'things'...on the ground (I think they are in a file called "MV.sm") and I'm already working on enlarging it, we could have another terrain!!

But I've noticed that there's no wind on the edges of the terrain constraining the planes within it so you can easily 'fall off' or fly off it.

Any ideas??

The terrain is even less than I initally thought (15 x 15 miles) it's much smaller than the 'normal' terrains. Maybe it was a test terrain for the SDOE developers...

I'm currently enlarging it though in OPS...

It's a shame that you found those files. You'll have to die now. I'll miss you guys, but you really have to go.

(just kidding of course)

The image was part of some fun that Chad had while doing Bessie and the landscape was an experiment that Chad did almost two years ago for higher detail terrain. Neither were intended to make it on to the CD.

Do you realize that it took people a year and a half to find those??! You aren't poking around in the assets enough!
Imagine what else might be hiding in there.

ROFLMAO! I just found out that Bessie the cow has her own hangar pic! Also, what the heck is B17GPath? The cutaway for that has a cool looking metal skin with a yellow tail.

That would explain why those last pics look very Scottish scenery like LOL.

Well i've looked in my CD and apart from a couple of files in the Missionseditor directory there are no other files so us UK guys can't see it, there is directory called smallworld with nothing in it so is there an other hidden terrain or another name for MVworld ?

Could someone (hint hint Harman_5) bundle up the MVworld with Scottish type modified textures and post it on simfiles for us mvworldless types.

Commando,

I've been having probs uploading files larger than a meg at simFiles lately, so I've posted the MV World terrain at my site instead.

Follow the link below:
http://members.nbci.com/harman_5/terrain/mvworld.zip

I'll make a terrain section and add it to the UI of my site later on.

Hello ArgonV and All.

Could someone please tell me exactly how to get Bessie into a Mission?

Just for fun, of course.

there is a bunch of stuff in there if you look. when i did planepack 5.3 i found all kinds of stuff in there. I never said anything since i figured people already knew..

There is also squadrons for a B-24 and B-26 crews that don't load in game. There's a B-17 that doesn't load in game but the hangar info is still there B17Path is the name. sound effects of guys throwing up. A guy saying "Ah crap!"

There's even a ppf file that has the word helicopter in it.

there's so much it's hard to list it all. it's there, just look..

I had found them shortly after you released BigMunger, and when OPS came out I viewed them all (all sorts of SM files in the par files), but didn't know what to make of them and kept quiet. But I did see them LONG ago.
