yeah the bolten paul defiant....
it was a beast about the size of a hurri but flew like a oil tanker. the sting up its tail was a quad MG turrit at the back of the canopy whitch was very deadly to an aircraft at short range. when it first went into service the germans though it was a hurri, so they used to come up realy close behind it (witch was very easy because it was quite lumberus) then they would suddenly realize that it was pointing 4 heave MG at you and befour you could break away the turrit would have blown you out of the sky. after about 3-4 weeks of this happerning the germans got the idea and started going in head on and the the tables tern and they defiants where blown out of the sky, every time they went up with 4 1 would come back very badly shot up (they recon the reason the last 1 was left alone was because the german fighter where out of ammo.

Later mark2 Defiants got more powerful engines, and were switched to night fighting duties. They lasted a little longer that way!Ultimately, they ended up as target tugs and gunnery training planes.

I'll say one thing for the Defiant....it was better than the RNAS attempt at a turret fighter. Anyone want to try building a Blackburn Roc? They thought that you could fly alongside bobmbers and strafe them. The Roc could barely hit 200 mph and never actually caught the bombers!

I started a Defiant quiet along time ago, but wasn't too good with 3D and OPS at the time and gave it up after not doing a good job on the turret, I do love the defiant though, even though they were shot down in droves by the Germans causing them to be moved to night fighting, see they have no forward firing weapons, and once the Germans got over the supprise of the turret guns they ripped the much slower less manouvreable Defiants apart, strange thing is, as those of us that have done this, taking on a fighter type aircraft that has a rear gunner is a very nasty affair.. still one I haven't mastered, says alot for the German pilots really

I built one out of a hurricane, with the rear turret from a Lanc pasted on.

It REALLY kills the AI pilots! All the time, they try to get on your tail.....

SURPRISE!!!!!!

And these AI pilots never learn the lesson either!!!!
