It pains me to say this but SDOEWarII will not be continuing. Seems like every time I get busy on this project, real life and especially work become too overwhelming. There just aren't enough hours in the day for me to make room for something like this. Maybe some other enterprising soul will take it on and run with it, but it won't be me for the forseeable future. As it is, I barely have time to fly! Thanks to everyone who volunteered time to help and especially to PR for bringing this to us in the first place. E IP: Logged |

Spanky here... I hear ya man, life has a way of taking over. This is why I originaly opposed the idea of a war so complicated, It needs too much management. If anyone is interested I am thinking we could still do a historical flight night, like I proposed way back before the war. One set night a week in which people play at the utmost realism. Non countiuing, just a bunch of good missions. The only work it takes is for people to show up and bring a couple new missions along with them. here, was my original idea slapped down in text form. http://www.thot.net/~verge/hfn/hfn.htm IP: Logged |

Good ideas Spanky. Also, I should mention that we are in the middle of a squad war with the JG3. This has so far been a ton of fun and I dont think it was too much trouble to set up (of course Himdog and the JG3 are doing all the work LOL!) My point is, that this this kind of competition keeps the online flying fresh and exciting with a minimum of set-up. I'd like to see some historical squad-based competition as well as straight dogfight tournaments. That 2 on 2 tournament was fun. E IP: Logged |

I agree %100 with Spanky. Too many people here have too much going on outside of SDoE to make a regular commitment like the SDoE War requires. But I think people could make time once or twice a month for a historical battle. Esox, I would like to thank you and all the other people in the war department for all your time and hard work that you put into the SDoE war. It will definately be one of my happy memories of this game and this community. THANKS! ------------------ Cheers! Lt. Col. Hear Hear!!!I remember many a Monday night staying up much later than I should have with Jag, sparky, and nealg. That I think was the best part of it for me. I have never laughed so hard in my life as those times we were mission planning ------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless! Jeeves =FC= IP: Logged |

Hmm. Another idea for the mix here (an old one and not mine to begin with I grant you but...) I recall flying several missions in an evening, all with a Pearl Harbour theme. As I recall Stef made a "newspaper" out of it, and we all had a blast! I like historical nights, but I like themed historical nights even better. With the pacific terrain nearing completion, and hip##'s Desert Fox on the horizon, I think we could have some fun with that. It might also give drivable vehicles a boost, which would be nice to see.I have an idea for an sdoewar-like project, but it requires more planes (standard ones like the He111, Ju52, Dakota, and especially italian ones) and tanks than we have currently. Oh, that and it's after AF construction, Nations v3.0 and Project W.A.M. on the to-do list. (sorry, couldn't help but leave a few tenterhooks in my wake) To PR, Esox, and the whole =WD= crew - thank you for you time and effort over the last number of months. SDOEwar was, and likely will be some of the best times I ever had with this sim. Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! IP: Logged |

Thanks Werner. SDOE WAR provided some of the most fun I have ever had with any game. It was the participants ( you, Jet, Himdog, Nealg, Sparky, etc. etc. )that made it fun. I never got to fly in it, but playing the part of the Observer in so many missions left me with alot of great SDOE memories. All it ever attempted to do was get more guys online to enjoy what (I think) this sim does the best. Multiplay! Better even than CFS2 or EAW. Multiplay in SDOE is the best of any current WWII boxed sim that I know about. Perfect.....NO WAY, but still a heck of alot of fun. Yeah, SDOE WAR was fun, to bad my real job got in the way. Having said all of that, any idea that put's more guys online flying is a good thing. The Squad War between the JG3 and the =FC= is proving to be quite fun, and takes very little time. I just wish I could fly in it more often. SDOE WARII dead....Nahhhh, let's just say it's on the back burner for awhile. PR=FC= IP: Logged |

The SDOEWar was for me the best online fun I have had. Yes it was big, long and involved but I enjoyed that because it was WAR! I can not thank PR and the WD enough for all that they did. It was because of the war and how much I missed it that I wanted to start up a Squad war. I know everyone has busy lives so the Squad war is kept very simple. I could never have done it without Jetlag, Pye, JG3 and the =FC=. I hope one day the war will be back but until then long live the Squad war! Thanks again guys, your the best.

Thanks for the kind words guys! And also, thanks to Gecko for all the help in the WD. This community is really unlike anything I've ever seen online. This type of open architecture with all of it's inherent frustration is a stroke of genius. The fact that it gets the community involved and keeps them involved is what I love about it. It's just growing and growing. I haven't been around much in the last few months and it's cool to see people who were new then have stuck around and are contributing big time. Imagine the virtual skies in 10 years!! E IP: Logged | |
