I've started this thread to clarify some potential problems that pp6.0 may encounter with certain planes (any planes from countries included as addons in Nations V2). People will have problems with being able to play online and offline with planes that are from the addon countries. When I first started working on Planepack 6.0 there was a coinciding call for making Nations v2 online standard. At that time most people supported it becoming online standard. I also supported adding it to the standard at the time, as a lot of effort was put into its creation and it adds a new element to the game. As a result, the pack assumes that you have nations v2 installed. I am not sure if the Online Standard pages have been updated to reflect this but, if we intend to make pp6.0 online standard we need to add Nations V2 to the standard pages as well. Actually, I added a couple of planes to help start some of the Nations (no Italian planes are in the pack yet). I will not speak for Werner regarding how the group wishes to support their product. However, I recall that they expressed a desire to have people install the full version rather than making available a watered down version that excluded the sounds. I realize that some people have bandwidth limitations that make large downloads a real hassle but I feel strongly that we should support Nations and the work that was and continues to be put into it. So if you don't have Nations V2 and intend to install PP6.0, please add it to your download queue. It will be worth it. It's available at Abbeville Field IP: Logged |

I agree completely Spin.Quick question for you though: If I'm new to the game are these the downloads I need now? CD install 1.50 patch Nations V2 PP 6.o WW1 pack (optional) do I not need now to install 5.3a and patch 5.3b and contest Plane pack? I know the WW1 pack is not standard but if I did want it, at what stage should it be downloaded? Thanks Spin IP: Logged |

On-line Standard SHOULD be as follows: **NOTE** This is the RECOMENDED order of installation.1. CD Install 2. 1.5 Official Patch 3. Nations v2 4. WWI Plane Pack (Optional, but IMO a MUST have!) 5. Plane Pack 6.0 -There is no need for Plane Pack 5.3, the Plane Pack 5.3 Patch or the Contest Pack. [This message has been edited by ArgonV (edited 11-15-2000).] IP: Logged |

Thanks spin, well said. While I recognize Nations V2 is a pretty big download, you are correct in stating that the Nations crew is unanimous in its assertion that V2 not be diced or otherwise watered down - this happened with V1 and it caused compatability problems. Rest assured however that the V3 download will come in more flavours than your basic lumpy vanilla. Btw I believe it is Dogma that has access to the fsic online standard pages. Dunno if they've been updated yet, I haven't checked. Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! IP: Logged |

I haven't updated the online standard and I don't intend to until later in the week. I would hate to make it be the online standard only to find it has major problems. I have heard things about russion planes not matching so far so lets give it a few more days of testing.------------------ William Gall http://www.simfiles.com IP: Logged |

Should be, I don't think it overwrites your startup.ppf. You might consider backing it up just in case.------------------ Spin Visit Spin's Planepack Site to learn more about planepack V6.0 and ongoing development of the planepack IP: Logged |

The order of Nations does not matter. Just dont fly any aircraft that uses it and you will be fine. (Which would be kinda hard since the aircraft would not show up period) In the post above I listed the RECOMENDED order of installation. I say the WWI pack first (If you do choose to install it) because the new Plane Pack 6 needs to overwrite the startup.ppf (rename it really) so it is the latest one, and the keyboard.inp file.If you havent done it in the order above, dont worry. Nothing really would be hurt... IP: Logged |

I did as above and it seems to work well.I did a clean install SDOE CD SDOE Patch 1.50 PP6.0 Nations V2 SDOE Control 2000 (a few sound and plane addons) The only change I made was to Unbig data6.par and used the mission editor on the Russian , French, and Australian Scramble Missions (I installed the SpitURSS and changed the missions to use it instead of the GB SpitVb) I rezipped the file into data6.par and dropped it in my media folder...overwriting the original data6.par Seems to be working at this point. Great work guys, thanks. ------------------ CrazyHorse IP: Logged |
