You know when I posted that "up way to late..." note at the SDOE message boards, I wasn't sure what kind reaction I would get, but see a few of you aren't quiet right either (ain't it cool!).
So here are some ideas I had "gettin' 'little crazy with the SDOE".
My original idea was to write up some senarios & crazy characters add use some of the more exotic planes already in sdoe, but some of you sick bastards (I admire sick by the way) made the big sci-fi leap (which really pisses me off too, 'cause I'm a big sci-fi fan & I SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT! !). Anyway, I think we should do both & for this reason:

A) the first idea uses existing craft & can be gotten out quicker. All we need are skins & the background info (I'll write most of that) to get started. If anybody what's to put out any radical aircraft for the project, it can always be added in later.

B) while I'm writing & the skinners are skinning on the first project, the true badasses are designing spaceships!!!
I don't think we should limit to it to just one spaceshow base. Image attacking the a StarTrek borg cube in your Babylon 5 Star Fury over the Death Star from Star Wars as the terrain (I told you I admired sickness). As always, with SDOE, the possiblities are endless

So what do you think? The request lines are now open!

P.S.- I think have a Star Furry Thunderbolt from B5 would just be too cool to have(hint hint)

The only thing I can see being tricky with this is the 'floor'

If you make it 'death star' you could make a slice of death star, but would need something to make the edges look believable. You can't make a sphere for terrain, without having something to cover the floor as it were.

Might be better to have a lunar landscape terrain with some funky rock formations.

No reason why there couldn't be a death star object up in the sky though.

Ever since Istarted looking at terrains, this is something I have wanted to try.

Currently, all the terrain is down at the bottom. Why not put 'terrain' up in the sky!
The Island terrain Parsoft released has the island and the sea as spereate referenced models. It works. I have put airfields floating in space when trying to make an aircraft carrier that AI would use. It works.

Put the two together, and you could make a floating space station with 'airfield' as in Battle Star Galactica, or with a rotating DOF, drop star-furies from Babylon 5.

The planet bit would help to explain the existance of Gravity!

It would be interestign to see if the AI can recognise the existance of terrain in the sky!
