Ok Spin I found a funny one. The P51.when you lower flaps it actually has the opposite effect and throws the nose down. Thats all for now IP: Logged |

this should happen as far as I know, also it's not a plane pack issue, but a builer issue. My understanding of Flap opperation on most aircraft is an initail nose down before the extra lift pulls the nose up, so I think you'll find this is the correct action of the flaps~Nat~ IP: Logged |

Won't swear about the P51 but on the P38 that's what's supposed to happen. Flaps go down, providing more lift. This also changes the aerodynamics of the plane so the nose goes down (even though there is more lift...). This is correct (again for the P38). Don't have to worry about it on the PBY, NO FLAPS! ------------------ Snickers =FC= IP: Logged |

That should happen - at least in most planes. Increased lift does not imply any change to the position of the nose "by default". Consider flying 5mph faster, that increases the lift but doesn't push the nose in any particular direction. On the other hand the _position_ of the lift is very important. When you lower flaps at the back of the wing it's kinda like you have a longer and more cambered wing. As a result the center of lift is now more to the rear of the plane. That's just like putting more lift on the tailplane - and that forces the nose _down_. Don't take my word for it, take a spin in a Cessna some time. Or better yet, a low wing plane like the Rallie. In the Rallie putting down full flaps means that to fly at a level altitude you have to point the nose down something like 10 degrees or so. The result on a 5 degree glideslope means that it's like you're in a helicopter, falling forward out of your seat! What is a problem is that most planes in most flight sims _don't_ show enough nose-push! In SDoE it seems very few planes show it at all, but any one with a good bit of chord (like the 51, spit and 190) should have significant trim changes with flaps. Maury IP: Logged |

How does PlanePack 6 handle pre-existing aircraft folders? My "online" installation of SDOE can just have the PP6 installed onto it, but with my "developer" installation, I don't want to overwrite stuff I'm working on, or have the PP6 stuff get overridden by my "outdated" aircraft either. Is it the same as PP5.3, where the "old aircraft" got put into the "old aircraft" folder, or does it just put a parfile in that my old stuff will take priority over until I move them, or do I need to "protect" my existing project stuff before installing?

Jedi, PP6 renames your aircraft folder, your hangar folder, training, and vehicles folders so you won't lose anything.------------------ William Gall http://www.simfiles.com IP: Logged |
