Need I say more.

I look forward to feedback.

Pick it up here at Simfiles: http://www.simfiles.com/scripts/singlefile.php3?fileid=263

I'll leave it to the "community" to decide when this becomes online standard. I would suggest Friday of this week - but hey you guys decide.

Thanks to everyone for their assistance, support, feedback, planes, vehicle, creative genious, dedication, addiction, and patience. Dogma thanks for your help in assembling the installer. It should help many make the transistion to the new pack successful.

Thanks also to Tailslide who started these in the beginning.

THANKYOU VERY MUCH SPIN. THERE IS NO QUESTION ABOUT THIS BEING ON_LINE STANDARD AS FROM THE TIME IT IS LAUNCHED IT MADE THE STANDARD.

Please make this on line standard.

Thank you Spin, and all the testers.
Personally I vote for tonight being PP6 as standard...

But then again I votd for Gore.

Anyone in Florida have a vote on this? Yours will be the deciding factor. ;-)

Please if this is the new on-line standard could it be after the weekend. Making this the new on-line standard just before the weekend is IMO not the best thing to do. Could we do it on Monday the 20th? We would have all week to find any problems and also give people time to get help or what not. Sometimes it is hard to get up with people during the weekend. Thanks. Another reason for this is we have a squad war going on and it would be very hard to have this done on Friday. You should never release new software just before the weekend.

Sounds like we need at least one more location for DL. I've already got the files in it, but I wanted to get a copy for archiving. So, I'll hold off for a few days.

Add my heartfelt thanks to all involved in this - you are the best.

Nat: Lord, I feel your pain. I dl'd it last night after work with my DSL and was getting 47 KB/sec...took about 9 minutes...and was thinking the whole time, could I do this with my old 56k? Dang it, why can't they make Cable/DSL/ISDN available to everyone now for 1$ a month?? It isn't like they aren't sure it doesn't work.. Yeah, I know...hehe...but it is so frustrating; when it comes to downloads..anyway, if I were Bill Gates, I think I'd fund a project to get high speed connections to every user in the world, free with the purchase of a MS OS. Oh, wait...hmmm...guess maybe I wouldn't.

Wish it were possible, though.

Side note: question for dOgmA or Spin. I have the WW1 pack, and some updates in my aircraft folder. Will the 2 co-exist? As long as I just move the files back into the new folder, will the necessary lines still be in startup.ppf, etc.?

I am with Himdog on his request to not make this Online Standard until after next weekend, though I know the majority will want it now, and I sure can't blame them.

We kind of waited until after the weekend to launch it in the first place (Monday night).

Umm, on updates for the wwi pack and other addons not in the pack (there are several well trodden betas out there that are currently not in the pack, you will need to add them back in to the new aircraft folder.

With respect to the startup.ppf folder, I was not aware of any new items w.r.t. airfoils that may need to be in it. The Startup ppf is inclusive of any items required for the wwi pack and Nations v2 release.

For all those with many addons, please carefully review the duplicate folders and carefully return any desired non-standard items to their rightful place. The purpose of the renaming is to ensure the pack works as designed and to eliminate unexpected conflicts. There are close to 3000 files included in the pack parfiles and it is not practical to check for and eliminate all of these files.

Consider two approaches to addons:
1. reinstall them from their source files
2. return the desired items from the renamed folders.

Whatever method you choose, once you are happy with the new configuration and don't intend to remove pp6, I would suggest removing the duplicate folders from your system to reduce wasted space. Of course for those with 30 Gb hard drives what's 50 mb matter.

This structure ensures simplicity for new players and old alike. Unfortunately it may create a few minor inconveniences for more advanced users.

By the way, I've updated my webpage - I've decided to continue with ongoing and continuing improvement of the pack - so I'm all ears.

Check it out (this will evolve): www.angelfire.com/games2/spinsdoe

they are still "talking" about DSL over here.. but our good ole British Telecom is screwing with us and not allowing other suppliers to offer DSL, BT has apparently started some DSL services, thats if you're lucky enough to live in an area where the exchange has been upgraded to allow DSL, lets just say that we're looking at about another year yet before it's easily available.. good ole Britania {{barf}}

Using NetAnts for the download now so it's working it's way through all the errors at simfiles, using multiple connections to download so I don't (hopefully) get cut off again and actually giviing me a better download rate of about 2kbs since before I was lucky to get 1kbs, so some time tonight I'll have the pack, and can then go through the whole procedure of putting my installation back together, all the none standard training missions, beta, ww1 and none standard aircraft, all my vehicles (which don't affect online standard in any case) etc that the pack will now move, oh joy of joy.

Don't mean it to sound like I'm bitching, I just aint real happy right now.

Nat, there are 41 vehicles in the pack many of them are yours (thank you so much for them). We decided to rename the vehicles folder to avoid version inconsistencies. Check the readme at my webpage to see what I managed to get in.

Nat, LoL take it easy old bean! I used Aladars advice and got Get Right to download it, just in case it decided to quit on me. Luckily I did 'cause it stoped once, but Get Right quickly restarted the download from where it left off.

I have now 2 installatons of Fighter Squadron. One: My own personal configuration which Ive modified the hell out of to my liking (My redone training and hangar missions with my hangar screen shots, Midway, Winter Rhineland and Somme terrains, a few campaigns, personally tweaked planes along with the Betas that Im testing/working on for various people and gt's loader screen package.) and Two: The on-line standard consisting of PP 6.0, WWI Pack, Nations 2.0 and gt's loader screens.

All pretty simple really. That way I dont have to worry about on-line compatability and I also dont have to worry about my own personal tastes.

Sturm,

The pack will work from an existing installation with any version of previous planepacks installed. If you want to do a fresh install go ahead. It is not necessary but it shouldn't hurt. But make sure you install in the following order (before uninstalling make sure you backup your custom elements including the keyboard.inp and sdemons.ini files:

SDOE CD
SDOE Patch v1.5
WWI Pack (if desired)
Nations V2
Plane Pack V6.0
(anything I left out?)

Periodically when people have a problem with installing a new pack (odd graphical glitches etc) deleting the cache.txt and cache.dir (or sdoecache.txt and sdoecache.dir)will eliminate these problems. However, I have had no reports that suggest this may be necessary with the current pack.

Doesn't Razer have a web site he could mirror the file on ? I guess its much easier for him to whine like a big baby instead. Sorry for the speed guys but there is just so much bandwidth to go around. I would imagine that Tail at the very least would have it mirrored soon. I would mirror it at Fightersquadron.com but that might kill any chance of everyone useing the forum so i don't have many more options. Just be patient.

It's a nightmare!
I've tried to download PP6 about 5 times. The progress stopped at 19 Mb of midrange. The most far I was was 23 Mb and I lost the connection.

Please mirror it on a true ftp server.

By the way, I don't want to use Gozilla or any of this kind, I hate to be tracked...

Excuse me Sir! Are you really talking about my whining??? Isn't it a good reason to whine when I spend about two days to try to download new planes for my fav fly sim???
Anyway, I don't see anywhere 'this PP doesn't bring value to whining, DO NOT download it'.

A quick survey: how many moaners since yesterday?

Wow... I thought that I had crossed the age to be dealt as whining, even by a general!

I wish my customers to be never treated moaners when something does not work...

Maybe instead of throwing infantile tantrums complaing about what someone has provided you with for FREE. You could spend your hard earned cash to provide a mirror site in France for these files as I have done in the US. I would even throw in your first US dollar as profit so you could say you have made $1 more than me.

I have been working hard to find mirrors for this file as simFiles wasn't designed to handle 34 meg files. If you have ideas then they are welcome but the whining really doesn't do anything other than cause me to wonder who could complain about a service they get for free.

Thanks to spin, dogma, and the builders for their hard work. this keeps this sim fresh and will stay on my harddrive for a long time to come.

P.s. Any nitpicking i have will be well intentioned. I think. Now aavbout that hurricane...
