All works OK for me with my V5 5500 in any resolutions, D3D or glide Latest official drivers from 3dfx, DX8 installed PIII 650 oc 832Dekstop set to 32 bpp Glide settings : *3d filter quality : automatic *Alpha blending : automatic *FSAA 4x (or 2x) *Mipmap dithering : disable *Max buffered frames : 1 pending buffer *Tripple buffering : enable *Rendering color deph : software controlled (unable to go up to 800*600 in glide with this option set to "force 32bpp rendering" *Legacy texture compression : enable *Lod-Bias : -2 *Glide splash screen : disable * One more thing : in display settings, go to the advances ones and force manually the best refresh rate force all the resolutions at any color depth... (The selection screens in FSDOE are in 640*480 and all works Ok and is centered ) Frenchie IP: Logged |

I know it's an older card, but we all know about V3 with the new drivers, and how SDOE crashes using the new drivers and Glide, well as Ren has found out, if you set your desktop to 32bit color Glide works again, I think this is worth trying for you aswell Hawk.IP: Logged |

For months I gave up trying to get my V5 5500 operating in glide. I used D3d and put up with coast and building graphical glitches. Since I installed Directx8 and the newest version of my voodoo driver I can now run in glide at 800x600. At 1024x768 the graphics look superb but my screen is off centre and a little too large although it flies beautifully. I feel I'm nearly there, being able to fly using glide at 1024x768. I followed frenchies suggestions above. Other suggestions boys?Pogo IP: Logged |

Uhoh... I was planning on buying a V5 so I could run IL2, but I still want to be able to run sdoe!! Why is the screen not centered? How come the problems with Voodoo 4/5 seem to be rather freakish, in that they're not constant from one virtually identical machine to another? I'm a software guy, see, so anything you hardware guys can say to allay my fears about upgrading my vid card (Voodoo Banshee - runs sdoe perfectly) to a Voodoo 5 would be appreciated.Werner Molders ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today!
