I loaded DX8 and hoped it would fix the glide mode for Voodoo3 2000 with the 1.05 drivers but still locks up. The Direct3D seems to be improved though so I will keep 1.05 and stay in Direct3D for awhile. To enable glide I have to use 1.04, but it only runs up to 800X600. I prefer 1024 X 728I can get that with glide driver 1.04 but the screen loads funny and I have to resize manually with Control + Glad it works for you though. IP: Logged |

Hmm ok, I just tested it with the desktop set to 32 high color res setting and I enabled mipmapping on the glide.I can now get glide with the 1.05 drivers The 1024 X 768 setting still loads off center but if I use Control + , I can adjust the pic to fit the screen. It's not as automatic as I would prefer, but one of the perks is that it leaves the text display on the screen the same size as the 800 X 600 setting while getting the 1024 X 768 resolution. The MSFF Pro responds much better with DX8 Do you suppose that an ini setting would set the glide resolution correctly? IP: Logged |

Yes ir still fly's of center so I stilll use 800 x 600 also to abvoid this problem. And some small glitces in menu but other then thst actual glide seems t work ok .IP: Logged |

regardless of the options, SDOE will only display at properly 800x600 in glide, thats why you need to resize the screen, you end up with 800x600 even if you picked higher. I'm real glad you found out how to get glide working with the new drivers though, I've had to fly in D3D for ages, I'll try switching over to 32 bit color and see if glide looks any better now.. but I never did like all those sharpe edges that glide produces instead of the smooth picture from d3d.~Nat~ IP: Logged |

Yeh I managed to get Glide working, but I would rather fly at at 1280x1024 in D3D (even with all the visual artifacts) than 800x600 in Glide. Anything other than 1024x768 is butt ugly on a 19" monitor ------------------ Yardstick painted this IP: Logged |

I prefer the glide at 800x600 cause 1 you get way better fps which result in more planes in a mission without slowdown hmm I guess thats the main reason,I find d3d in sdoe just looks funny.IP: Logged |

Jah, it's funny 3D seems to give my screen edgier effects and a "flatter" look. The textures just seem to have more depth in glide.I just D/L'd 3Dfx drivers 1.06 for my Voodoo3 and combined with DX8 I have picked up a few more frames per sec. I tried one of the beta 1.51 patches and got glide correctly in 1024 X 768 which would have been great for offline play, but there is no engine "run" sound using that patch. I get start eng and gun, flap sounds etc but as soon as starteng ends the planes become gliders hehehe (part of the fun for me is the roaring of those motors) ------------------ CrazyHorse IP: Logged |
