Razer Pilot	posted 11-10- 06:31 PM I just upgraded to DX8 after installing the new DX8 drivers for my 3DFX vid card. New DX8 complient drivers for the new 3DFX line of vid cards was released yesterday. Glide now works, D3D now has 27 more FPS and my internet conn went from 670k to 735k. I think it's clear we all need to get DX8! IP: Logged

The guy who wrote the B17ii article (most recent one) at combatsim told me I need to upgrade from my current card (Diamond Monster Fusion) to a GeForce something-or-other. Hawker Pilot	posted 11-10- 08:53 PM The problem is ge cards dont do glide.Voodoo or banshee do glide.Sdoe runs better in glide.Now if I could only get glide to work again grr.back to box set of drivers I guess glide worked then. IP: Logged

frenchie Cadet	posted 11-11- 03:51 PM Hi Yardstick, I've got a voodoo 5, and I have found a way to make it work in glide mode with SDOE by switching my depth color to 32 bpp in my desktop... Another setting and I SDOE always crash... Hope this will help you Frenchie IP: Logged
CrazyHorse Cadet	posted 11-13- 10:39 AM I got much improvement on my Voodoo3 2000 with DX8. I also got the 1.06 drivers, released on Nov 6th (I think). Glide still crashed until I changed my desktop settings from 16bit to 32 bit colors in desktop/properties/settings. Now it works in glide and/or of course 3D3 ------------------ CrazyHorse IP: Logged
Mirthain Pilot	posted 11-13- 12:30 PM Want to laugh.... they didn't update D3D in DX8. If you look at the Directx icon in the control panel, it tells you what is on what level... D3D is still DX7. ;} Did anyone dl the voice stuff that is on the DX download page(www.microsoft.com/directx)? Sport Cadet	posted 11-13- 05:54 PM Thanks Razor, download it 3 days ago from Tailslide's site, but did not load it out of fear for SDOE. What card are you running Tailslide? I have a TNT2 and was wondering if this upgrade will have the same effect. IP: Logged
Geodude Pilot	posted 11-16- 07:40 PM Just a note...Glide also works with DX7 and the new drivers (1.04) if your desktop is set to 32-bit. You do NOT need DX8 (even the 1.04 readme says so). I think I'll wait on DX8 until the first patch. In any case, it's nice to have Glide back... IP: Logged
