I have the planepack installer underway and have made great headway so far. Here is a short rundown of how the installer will operate and why:

1. rename ppf files before replacing them (optional)
2. rename par files before replacing them (optional)
3. rename aircraft, hangar, and training folders to avoid conflict with par files.
4. Install new Aircraft folder with blank dirs for each plane with subdirs for textures and sounds in place to make it easier on newbies.
5. install new training folder with subdirs.
6. Add key assingments for Canopy Toggle(Q), Tailhook Toggle(O), Fold Wings(W) (all three open, close, toggle), CmdBomb(A) (for Mistels). This will prompt you to use the defaults or define your own.
7. Create program group items to automatically install any optional items such as the p47 realistic cockpit, ect.

If there is anything anyone can think of that is overlooked please let me know as I will have this wrapped up very soon.

I have included a batch file that after uninstalling PP6 puts your system back to the way it was before with the exception of the keyboard mappings.

The installer works on a fresh install or any combo of the previous packs.

Please feel free to comment on things I may have missed or ask questions. To make things go smooth please do not ask in this thread things like whats included in pp6 or what has been left out. Lets stick to what needs to be done to get this in everyones hands ASAP.

Thanks

dOgmA - man, seems like you have thought of nearly everything. Ok, I don't know if this is done, or even in the realm of possibility....but in the optional renaming process, is there something which explains what one might have to reinstall and/or copy and move to the new folder to keep items which one may have but is not included?

Awkward way of asking, I know...like, example, Aircraft folder is renamed - user has a F86 or something like that - this is not in the PP - should user reinstall the plane after the PP or just copy the folder from the renamed folder to the PP created new folder? Or is it even possible to include that feature? Or..hehe..is that what the program groups will do? Forgive me if I have misunderstood, if that is the case.

Thanks for all your and Spin's hard work, and the people whose talents made this possible and most necessarily welcome.
