Wow, I'll tell you what, the interior takes up 4 frames per second! But, with some careful LOD managing, its no problem anymore! Take a look at the pic and then the FPS, can you tell the difference in the models? Betcha can't!


I also started work on the second level LODs, this baby is fun to shoot down. I have a question for you history buffs (who isn't a history buff here?) What kind of aircraft would this plane have encountered? Well, here is the last pic of 2nd level LODs! Check out my signiture for a little more info.

LoL sorry, Ive ben rather buisy taking a peak at another project.

Glad you are LOD optimizing! Did you fix that wing joining problem? Im alos glad you are putting in the low detail LODs this early! Keep it up man!

P.S. You put in that other dive brake yet?

Ahhh the eternal framerate question!

Just goes to show what proper use of the switchin distances can do! There is a valuable lesson for all future plane-builders here....no loss of visible detail and 25% increase in framerates!

She is still a little hungry on the old framerates though. I was getting higher than that with a detailed B17. Have you got any unused textures you could strip out? That helped with Nat's A10 and the Beaufighters no end.

One thing that does spring to mind though. We could almost do with setting up a set of standard 'comparison' shots for framerates. You know, on the ground at such and such airfield. Flying over water at x feet.

Could provide builders with a yardstick to measure and tune LOD's and the players with an idea of whether the plane will kill their system! Just a thought.
