For those with HS connections and tolerance for betas, please feel free to visit my updated page www.angelfire.com/games2/spinsdoe . I have uploaded a "beta" installer of the planepack. This includes the changes described on the readme page. Thanks Dogma for helping me put this together.

I would like to get feedback on how the installer is working to iron out any problems before general release. Please post your comments here.

Please ensure you backup the current pack parfiles before installing. The current installer renames your aircraft folder - if you have custom textures, sounds or non-standard addon planes you will need to add them back into the aircraft folder individually. I would recommend thoroughly testing the pack for performance and compatibility before doing this. Please refer to the list of planes included in the pack before replacing folders.

Other folders to consider renaming (the installer does not do this) include: vehicles, hangar, training. You may have problems with hangar and training missions of some of the planes if you don't do this. After you return your customized elements to their rightfull place and are happy with the new pack - it wouldn't be a bad idea to delete these renamed folders.

If there are requests for a smaller download I will consider releasing a pack that does not include data10.par (this file contains only non-standard items - such as hangar, training, vehicles and other items that are included in the pack for completeness). This would reduce the download required by ~ 10 mb. You would need the same vehicles installed separately to avoid missions where certain objects weren't present in game. I am hesitant to do this because of the potential to create confusion among new users. I would much rather have one download for all.

Good Luck,

Spin (headgear and flame retardent suits on backorder - oh no, not sure if I'll survive)

Spin,

Thanks for all the hard work(again). I really know and appreciate all the time you have had to put in to getting this plane pack together.

Great Spin! I'm pleased w/ the size of the file as it stands.

I don't see any point to separating data10.par. I find it unlikely that anyone will complain about the difference in file size vs the benefit of everyone having _the same_ objects to work with. Also, I think most modem users (myself included) will bawk at any file greater than 5 megs, so no point in trying to avoid that damage.

I think we need to line up some alterative DL sites before release. Any ideas here?

I'm DLing it now and will hopefully check it out tonight. Regardless of how it goes, I'll post here again after I've done so.

Thanks again Spin for all of your work. I can't wait to start using this online.

Spin,

I'm having great difficulty getting this file. I've had the DL choke twice now (on a t1 here at work and I'm getting a rate of about 7kbs from angelfire.com, which wouldn't be a problem in itself if I didn't get discoed midstream). You wouldn't happen to have another location to place the file would you?

Question....can I do a fresh install? You know, throw everything away and start with the store bought disc?

A fresh install isn't necessary but there's no reason why you shouldn't. Just make sure you have the v1.50 patch as well.

You will want to keep you keyboard.inp and sdemons.ini file. These keep most of your customized options and may have changed quite a bit since the original release.
