I'm workin on the cowl of the SM79, which was rounded, but after all the discussions about the B17 II I dunnowhat to do... right now a single group of engine, internal frame and cowling takes almost 5.000 polys,is it too much? I wondered which one is the better number of polys t oue to build a medium plane...li'l out ------------------

5000!!!!!!!!!!I thought I used a lot of polygons on the B17!!!!! As a general guideline, I used a 12 sided tube for the base engine nacelle, the motors themselves used 200. Total engine polys were 335 each.I have set a limit of around 3000 as being the maximum and I thought I was pushing my luck!!!! If it would help, I can mail you a copy of one of my engines. You can see how they look from my posts, and how many polys there are in them. Any more than this and you will run into problems. IP: Logged |
