My dads friend at work sent him this photo and he sent it to me. The story is, the airbase near us (Carswell Air Force Base) is currently loading up B-1s and will be for a while, anywho, this happened when it was being refuled, too much gas. Last year (or maybe the year before) at the Red Deer Int'l Air Show up here in Alberta, the B1 from Texas someplace had to land each day at Calgary International because of runway length, and on the last or second to last full day they were here, the plane clipped its wing on a regular old chain link fence, damaging its skin. The plane was likely still airworthy, but rather than fly with a little tear on the wing (and a big one in the pilot's pride) the USAF flew up a crew of mechanics to work on the plane. As you can imagine, news headlines ran something to the effect of a Canadian fence grounding an American uber-bomber in a terrestrial dogfight. Oh well, the pilots got us back in the end. See the airport is on the north side of the city, I'm in the south. I was at my aunts house, near my own, when everything started rumbling and clattering. I went outside, only to see this huge black plane few thousand feet up with very large blue cones coming out the back. The pilots afterburned their plane due south over the the greater part of the city!!! Nice pic Aladar! ------------------
