I got that channel too, and it is magnificient!!! That's how a found out about the German Mosquito that never went into full production because the RAF bombed a city where the resign was being produced for the wood and screwed the German's outta that deal. If that hadn't of done that then the Mosquito's ability to hit and HAUL ASS would have been brought to it's knees by the German Mosquito. All in all that channel kicks butt!------------------ So many things so little time FarmerJoe IP: Logged |

If you ever get the chance watch War Stories: Dogfight. I taped it, almost an hour straight of wartime footage with a pilot's letters home as the narrative. Close up shots of buzzbomb's in flight, strafing runs on a parked me262 in winter.. all kinds of stuff I haven't seen before. TS IP: Logged |

Went through the TV guide for today looking at at times the Discovery Channel was listed. No episodes of wings. I am truly bummed. How good was the Cat footage? Did they show any taking damage? How/where? I hate my cable company ------------------ Snickers =FC= IP: Logged |

Spanky here... My cable channel doesn't carry that channel, nor does it carry speedvision. it pretty much sucks ass. I tried to catch that dogfighter show tail but I got the time screwed up and thought it was 9pm EST instead of MST. sucks cause it looked really good. Do you know if it will repeat someday?

I have aus digital cable . Wings is on 24/7. They were just showing the development of Consolidated itself. They stated that the cat wing was one big fuel tank, and had some footage of the float being lifted and raised. I never knew that the B-24 was entering mass production prior to 1941 and took 9 months to prototype.IP: Logged |

The section of the the wing between the engine contained the gas tanks. Self sealing, less likely for fire but more likely to explode.... I dont think I would still be married if we had 24x7 wings . Did they show also the planes being lifed onto ships for servicing? Nice not to need an airfield, especially in the Pacific.------------------ Snickers =FC= IP: Logged |

Hmmm.. it did show rows and rows of Cat bodies under construction, and a flight of at least 8 cats. It didn't dig that deep into the cat - almost 10minutes of airtime on it. Of interest, they did have a nice cutaway they were using to show the gas tank with.IP: Logged |

I have some stills of Cats under production. There is a display called "Cutaway PBY" that they probably used to show the tanks from (pictures of that too )Did you know know that for a while the Navy fordid long overland flights. There weren't enough landing strips large enough to accept the plane if it had a mechanical failure. Then someone realized, "We have lakes don't we? Its a sea plane isn't it?"
