Great pics Aladar ! That Spit will be a good reference for colour matching - thanks.ummm...those markings are RAF though mate. The poms used them in India and Burma.
They deleted the centre red bit from the roundel for the same reason we did...to stop
being confused with the Japanese.
We went with the D/Blue & white roundel and they selected the D/Blue & L/blue.
Mind you this was not always the case. 54 Sqn RAF was sent over to Aust by Churchill
in'42 along with 452 & 457 Sqn's RAAF. At the time we were about to be invaded by the
Japanese and needed all the help we could get. Anyway, 54 Sqn adopted the RAAF roundel
not the RAF one for India/Burma campaign.
