I was trying to logically arrange child/parent objects under AC3D but the buttons to group and ungroup are greyed out. Anyone have an idea on how to ungroup?

You have to make sure you are in GROUP mode. Then the buttons are active. They don't work in OBJECT.

Select all your objects in the Heirarchy, and group them. Should work fine. It's a really useful feature if you are working on an update to an .OL file full of exra LOD levels that clutter up the view!
