Work is progressing, but slowly. The deal is simple.... I'm improving the B17 with a lot of new detail and touches. Once that is sone, I will have the base to build the B24 on. Seems such a shame to build it on top of something I'm just not happy with! Anyway, the 3d model is done, and I have a rough version flying in SDOE. The turrets and interiors need to be built and all the detail work is still to be done too. The project is about 10% done, but as anyone who has built a plane can tell you, there is a hell of a lot of work to do to get a plane finished! Bombers have more details too! IP: Logged |

If you want something to keep you busy for now, download the .air files for CFS2 and get the game to fly the one in there, it's beautiful!IP: Logged |

Yeah i have done that. it is sutch a shame that you cannot controle the turrets like in sdou that would of made cfs2 much cooler.

CFSII has some great looking bombers but you can't get in them and look abround. SDOE has the edge in the bomber game. I noticed something about the bomber in B-17II from the tons of screenshots coming out now. The bomber you see in an outside view is not the bomber you see from the inside. If you look at some of the very close-ups of the exterior you will notice some not so not cool modeling. The pilots are only half there and sit on a flat board as do the gunners. So this means you will not see the gunners and pilots move in an outside veiw. If we put moving crew in our B-17 you would be able to see them from the outside as you do the WWI pilots now. I have always been amazed by the SDOE B-17 because of this "complete model" effect. To be able to go outside while flying and look into the plane is way cool. The SDOE B-17 is the same model, inside or outside so if you go in close on an outside shot you will see the pilot and control panel and such. I think our bomber, under the skilled hands of Wakeup tailgunner will look as good or better than the one in B-17II from the outside. I would also like to see some movement from the crew,if possible, from an outside view. I know this would kill frame rates but maybe a special model for the frame rate challenged and another for the power users. ------------------ Hawk http://rcwarbirds.com/ IP: Logged |

HawkGood points about SDOE vs CFS2. Also, SDOE beats CFS2 in the multiplay department. CFS2 on the Zone is the classic Airquake dogfigt with a max of 8 players (I think thats right), SDOE as evidence from yesterdays Squad War between the JG3 and the Mighty Fighting Chickens is capable of so much more. I keep waiting for this game to be replaced by something, but the wait continues. PR=FC=

Just a thought - me wondering out loud - but based on all that has come to pass with flight sims in the last year, I think SDOE may be the last of the boxed WWII sims with this much online capability. It appears, and is just my opinion, that boxed sims will be targeting single player for a while, while the pay to play sims work out their kinks and expand. Right now, it seems the p to p have much of what we all look for in our sims, with the disadvantage of the better ones being too costly. Even CFS2 sticks a unasked-for icon on your desktop for Fighter Ace...that is one thing that did irritate me. Other than MS, what's the connection? Anyway, I'd guess in the future, the p to p sims will come down in price, and may even expand to boxed versions with 'offline' capability, but purchase of which will get a highly reduced online rate, or even free play. Providing their online only success is insured. .02.....the timing and architecture of SDOE were right, and most of it's online problems are shared by all the other sims to one degree or another...but throw in it's Open Plane, and mission building for online play, it still wins, hands down.
