As you all know, I have an ongoing battle to get glass to work. So, my question... WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING WRONG?!?!?!? I tried everything that it says to do here, but no go. http://www.fightersquadron.com/ubb/Forum7/HTML/000571.html Here is a screenshot of the LOD file opened in Wordpad. I freakin hate the fact that ya'll make it seem so damn easy. Anywho, please dont reply saying "Aladar, calm down." Cause I am calmed down, im just PISSED OFF!!!! Big difference.IP: Logged |

well, i can'thelp you. i thought i knew about glass, but it seems i'm just as screwed as you are. The Ki-61 has new glass and it's screwed too. all i can say is make sure the texture for the glass has 802243 set for the flags. As a last item to check, as long as your texture flags are correct, you have a tmap applied to a canopy, and something still isn't right look at the Alpha settings in OPS, because that's most likely the kicker, like in Razor's case. click on the Textures tab at the bottom left and find your canopy or part and double click on it in the textures window. Most people would think for a canopy texture that under Pixel Format the A (for Alpha) should be checked. Well, I believe since the alpha has been set to the polygon via the OL file you only need to set this Pixel Format area to RGBA (which must also be some sort of Alpha setting). In the case of my Harrier canopy glass I had to change the texture flag and that did the trick. This probably doesn't make much sense but I tried. IP: Logged |

If it helps, all I do is this:1. Create the texture and make sure it has an alpha layer and that the RGB layer and alpha layer are correct. 2. Add the new texture to the .asc file makeing sure, like razer said, that the flag is set correctly to tell SDOE to use the alpha layer. 3. Map the new texture onto the glass polygons making sure the texture ID is set correctly (shininess value in ac3d) What exactly is (was) wrong with your glass? And also, BTW, take comfort in knowing that this stuff is never easy the first time through

Well Sv, that would make me feel better, but as you know this isn't my first time . I think I figured it out. See my OPS won't load textures, so I couldn't tell if it was transparent or not. Thanks alot for the notes Sv. Maybe you should do a Glass Tutorial on your site. I know that would help alot of people. Anywho, thanks alot! The Barracuda looks great and is now getting a coat of paint!IP: Logged |

hmm - Calm down Aladar ! ...the polyflag is 0e8e for all polys - this is
1 1 1 0 1 0 0 0 1 1 1 0 in binary format. Hmpffff - OK, as we can see we need a flag with 8 bit, maybe it works then ? LK IP: Logged |

OPS sometimes screws flags (after import/copy/paste/etc)....IP: Logged |

Great idea Aladar, I want to do glass for the JU88 anyway. The hard part for me is creating nice reflections textures. Maybe JT can give some tips on this... I will try to do it and note as I go, I think the JU88 would look cool if you could see the glass... anyone have JU88 cockpit pictures?
