The Department of the Navy today released the first images of the redesigned PBY-5A "Catalina". MovieTone News was honored to be the first to present these images to you. Already Navy squadron VP-11 otherwise known as "Proud Pegasus Squadron" is helping in the final shakedown of this aircraft which promises to be the deadliest ship killer in the US arsenal should war come to the Pacific.Words cannot do justice to the Herculean effort put in by the employees of Consolidated Aircraft after this summers earlier tragedy. So this reporter will stop here and show you what will soon be the latest in the Navy's arsenal of freedom. (Until the censor releases them for general press, the images can be found at: http://members.nbci.com/butterfield/teampby/images/ ) For MovieTone News This is TGB

Cool! Nice job. Are you going to make the tip floats retract? Also, are you going to use the Wildcat retracts?------------------ Hawk http://rcwarbirds.com/ IP: Logged |

In addition to the floats, the wheels will retract the same as the F4F but thats a little lower on the priority list (oh Faaallk...).In addition to that, the blisters will open the same as the original PBY. I won't even go into the loadouts yet. Lets just say they make me . Hopefully we will have more to show soon, but I felt if I held out any longer I would be hung by the nearest yardarm (do yards have arms? If so, why?). ------------------ Snickers =FC= IP: Logged |

Actually at the moment its a dark green because it hasnt been textured yet. However, the deadliest PBY's were painted black and made night raids on Japanese shipping. They were so quiet that frequently the first the Japanese knew of the attack was when the bombs went off. The "Black Cat" squadrons took the new field of stealth warfare to fantastic heights.Want to know more? Go to http://members.nbci.com/butterfield/teampby Thanks! ------------------ Snickers =FC=
