I finally had a chance to fly online since i haven't done it in almost 3 weeks.

I must say PP6 is outstanding.. I haven't had time to download all the new things like the torpedos or the ark royal or seafire. but i have them now in the planepack. I had so much fun the other night with the new pack i might have to stop working on planes so much and start flying more.

The new torpedos was way cool.. seeing then hung under the Zeros almost made me cry. I can't wait til the Val is released so we can really do torpedo runs. Oh, and the Avenger!!

Spin has done a great job.. I think we should have way more Online time in PP6 to make sure everything works. I'm not sure if it was the host, but i did notice a Lanc mismatch on one mission.

no, people must have the same thing to play online, thats the whole purpose of the planepack and Online Standard. To battle cheating it checks to make sure you SM files mirror each other. If they don't you will get a mismatch and wont be able to join the mission.

Right now 5.3 with B patch and Nations is the online standard. PP6 is in beta stages right now and we are hope it will be standard soon..

Thanks for the feedback Razer.

Things look pretty good so far.

I noticed a few things so far but most a minor issues. Perhaps the most significant potential problem is that the pack now assumes Nationsv2 is installed on your system. The new release of Nations is supposed to be standard, however, it appears some may not have downloaded it yet.

I plan to add a few ground object / vehicles and the wake textures to the final release. After a review of Nat's website I realized I'd missed a few.

We discovered a problem with the mission editor last night where the squadrons don't properly get changed if you change the name of a squadron after creating a mission. This doesn't appear to be a planepack or nations problem but a mission editor bug.

The 190a4 and p51d are a great match now. A lot of fun with these so far.

So far changes for the 6.0 release will be minor updates to the Seafire and Yak.

Biggles for a complete list of planes and objects go here:
www.angelfire.com/games2/spinsdoe/readme.htm

The current beta is not in an installer package, if you aren't comfortable with messing around with SDOE's folders and files, I don't recommend installing it yet. For release I hope it to be in an installer package.

Im going to download it once it is released in its final state. No sense in downloading twice...

P.S. Oh and spin, if you want the Training and Hangar missions I have done, I can send them to ya and you can pick out what you like and add it into the plane pack. Or if you already changed them, LoL no need! Also, has the plane text and plane graphics ben added in the Hangar section? I know a few planes in the old plane pack I beleive did not have this done. But agian if you fixed this no problem.

And I would suggest there be a Ground Units Pack (Which would also includes the new weapons) as well so we can all be on the same page here. One of these days we will have to have like a Terrain Pack or something so we can use these new beautiful terrains on-line. Buts thats too far into the future and would require ALOT of download time. I would also ask that the Seafire be added in. Its too cool not to!

Once agian Spin I thank you for taking the mass project on!

P.P.S. Thanks for the torpedo comments Razer! Although the Val never carried any, it would be better than a Zero carring one. We need to get the Dauntless done aswell.

Oh Spin, I noticed you said the torpedo loadout was not working on the French Lancaster.... how so? If you would send me the regular Lancaster in PP6 where the fuel bug has ben fixed, I will convert it to the French Lancaster and get the torpedo loadout working for you.

Spin,

Just a note. Please include at least one of the cargo ship objects (and anything else your feel would make a great target ). I think Whirlwind made that was updated by Nat or the one by royohboy looks nice too. Take a look here:

http://members.nbci.com/_XMCM/naturlich/groundunits.htm

I thought I found a bug today in the training missions, but couldn't replicate it upon restarting the game, so wrote it off (I did get a screen of it though). So far so good!

Another object I ran accross that might be kinda fun to have included is the flyable V1 (Pete Hawk).

Thanks,
Gus

ArgonV, it was the 1.5 patch, it was online with an air start at 14000ft, 225 mph start with no throttle, after 2 to 4 mins all mistels were dropping, both AI and piloted, even though speed dropped to 190mph, will try this offline tonight.

Spin, in regards to your comments about the squadrons not being saved correctly I just wanted to let you know that I made a few missions over the weekend but when I copied the missions over to the multiplayer folder and went on-line to test I too noticed that all my Axis squadrons had been swapped with my Allied squadrons. Now I don't have your beta but i do have Nations v2 so you might want to double check and make sure it is not a Nations bug.

Of course it could always be some thing I've done but like I said all I did was copy and paste.

OK.... lets get real guys, if this expects you to have nations 2, then please make a version that includes it. one install for online compatablity. And for the newbies, one download (Even though it is huge) and they are setup to play. Period. We talk about ease of use, that is as easy as it gets. Make 4 versions of the pack if you are so inclined, 1 will be PP6 one file download, PP6 multiple file download, PP6+N2 single file then PP6+N2 multiple.
This covers everyone and saves on more downloads for the new kids. ;}
Just a suggestion....

What squadrons did have a problem with, exactly?

The mission editor generates a strSomething name from the squad name the first time you add the squadron to the mission. If you change the squad name, the strWhatever remains unchanged in the mission code. There has been already countless problems with those generated str identifiers that MUST not contain any special character (Trägerstaffel unit can never be used in a mission, mission editor does not save ground units in French version because of strUnité1, early NV2 problems etc.)

Pachy, you refer to the same thing we observed:

The str name doesn't change, that's what I was referring to. This also doesn't change the name of the squadron as it appears in the multiplayer game lobby.

We weren't referring to goofy characters

Couldn't the new PP6.0 include all the neccessary ppf files that Nations v2 requires, but not the sound wave files? This would be a minimal addition to the Planepack. Anyone who wants the speech can still download the full version of nations. I am, of course, assuming that the majority of Nations Mb are wave files.

Flyable V1 - hadn't thought of that one.

Yes, if the plane pack doesnt include nations V2 it should at least contain the country and squadron setup files or strange things will happen online.

I noticed that since I installed NationsV2 I don't have the problem with some squads online that I used to, someone must have fixed up the names

Argonv, just tested the Mistel 1 offline, it works exactly as you say it should, the ju88 only gets released after the A key is pressed even during 450mph dives, the prob looks to be an online only prob. The reverse damage bug hehe

Spin, what about adding the Ju88A4XV , ie ju88a4 with launchable V1 slung underneath.

Spin,

After working with ArgonV, I have found a quick way to reduce the unnecessary texture references for the Beaufighters (and therefore the load on the texture memory).

As soon as I can correct all the .sm files I will send them to you. (Hopefully before the end of the week)

Thanks,

Commando, that is indeed wierd! Maybe I need to increase what it takes to break the DOF and drop the modified Ju88 for on-line play? That way they wont break like that... A good idea?

The work Bishop has done with the Beaufighters is a REAL stress relief to my graphics card. (V3 3000 AGP) The big explosions are no longer a huge black pixel when I fly her. (Like it was when I did torpedo runs on the Scharnhorst) Hope those can be added in the Plane Pack as well.

Keep it up spin!

Me262 , gunsight offlined on my install of 6.0, does any one else have same. Reapplication of 5.3b patch fixes problem.

Also on Beaufighter 1 and 21 , cockpit frame is pink and transparent, deletion of texture cache and reapplication of ver2 zip does not fix ? odd could be my setup, other Beaus are OK .

I have found two problems with the p51d offline and need someone else to confirm it is not just my machine(it very well could be).

1) AI pilot never pulls back on the stick for lift off. The plane skips across the ground until it crashes.

2) When an airleron is damaged, enemy ai disengages their attack.

Raider, #1 I sent you an email a few days back and #2 I just noticed last night.

I would email you these but I am at work now. Let me know if I can help in anyway.

Condor / Spin, Try the version of the P-51D in the 5.3 and 5.3b plane pack, they didn't take off either. There seems to be a problem, that once you modify the original P-51 the AI can't take off. I tried to correct it but couldn't. Maybe someone else could take a look at this and correct it.

I hope to post a Beta Test version tonight that corrects the AI disengaging. I added a fourth section to the wing (had this before, but then reduced it to 3). If this is not successful (AI characteristics), I will pull the damage to the ailerons.

Sorry Condor, I haven't gotten back to you on your emails, I will just as soon as I have time and some answers for you.

Spin, if testing goes well, I will send you the corrected version on Sunday night, if that is not too late. If testing does not go well, I will send you the original test version that did not have control surface damage.

Raider, to fix the AI from flying away once the P-51 has ben damaged (This is due to the hidden parts that cause the airlerons to stop working correct?) you might want to use the dissabling/enabling hiding/unhiding airfoil method I came up with. This I would think will solve the AI problem.

P-51D update, Well adding the 4th wing area corrects the problem with the AI disengaging, however the problem still exists that the AI will sometimes go into a dive and crash into the ground/sea. This is usually after a plane is damaged, they seem to try and chase it down and overspeed.

Thanks ArgonV, I tried that a while back, It also corrects the disengage problem, but not the dive/crash problem. I will work on this more after the plane pack.

With that said, I will send an updated version without control surface damage, that way I am sure that most people will be satisfied.
