Well, after having been away from SDOE for some two months due to a host of new games that somehow appear on my shelves, (Oh, yeah, now i remember: I bought them myself!) I got back to SDOE. I reinstalled it on my new HD, and fired it up, well, tried to....
A message appeared saying 'Invalid install, please reinstall,' even though I just installed it. I tried installing again, but no luck! What's wrong???

Check the first line in your sdemons.ini file and make sure the install directory shows as being the correct one. If not edit the sdemons.ini file to point to the correct directory, or just delete it, though this way you will go back to standard settings.

I have some more SDOE probs, now. The textures are all black. That happened to me some time ago, too, but I don't remember what to do.

You need to delete the texture cache files, they are in the Media directory and are called, cache.tex and cache.dir . Serves you right for deserting SDOE lol . Welcome back.

And, a lil q:How do I convert *3ds-files to .sm-format? I'm in the process of getting 3d Studio Max, so you will maybe see a few planes emerging from SemmernWorks Ltd. soon

Still no luck with those textures. It's all black textures. I've tried deleting the cache files many times, but it won't work.

Try adjusting your light/color settings, on you video card or ingame light settings with SDOE Control...or both.
