Well, time for my yearly ritual of going to Elington field and seeing all those beautiful WWII birds! Ive ben watching them fly in these past few days from all around the country. (Just today a B-17 flew over my at a REALLY low altitude ) I must say Im really excited this year as they are bringing in some Russian WWII birds! Oh one more thing, As I am apart of the 6th Calvary reinactment group, I get free admission and Im going to be on the field running around while the Japs are strafing me in the Pearl Harbor reinactment! So that means LOTS of explosions around me while Zeros and Wildcats and B-17s fly at low altitudes all around my head! PEACE and HAHA! IP: Logged |

Airshow was great! They had I-16s, I-153, P-51s, a Dauntless, replica Zeros and Kates used in the movie "Tora Tora Tora!" a P-47, two B-25s, B-17 Texas Raiders, a P-63 Kingcobra, a Piper scout, Corsairs, two Wildcats, some AT-6s and a BUTT load of modern planes like a B-52, B1-b bomber, F-16s, F-18s, a F-15, a Stealth, a F-14.... (The list goes on) I got to ride in a Jeep and go out to the field where I participated in the reinactment of Pearl Harbor. I got shot at by Zeros and Kates and got to stand on the back of a Jeep and fire a mounted 50 cal. at the Japs! Was REALLY kewl (And loud!) I got asked alot of questions too since I was in uniform... (And Im the plane expert in the group) Also saw a B-17 do some manuvers as well as some mock dofighting with P-51s and Zeros and B-25s. The F-16s also put on a hell of a show! Only draw back was my feet hurt! IP: Logged |

Man, and I got offered a job at the tower in Ellington Field too, but I turned it down because of college. Was that CAF B17II there on the ramp? IP: Logged |

Lucky ducks..... I have gone every year but I couldn't this year because of a varsity basketball practice!! If you want a daily airshow head to Ellington between 8:30 and 10:00 to see those ANG F-16's do their takeoffs. They fly out over the gulf and then comeback... I would go and watch them all summer. ------------------ jg300_hartmann@juno.com IP: Logged |

Awesome show! I got to watch Sunday's Tora Tora Tora re-enactment from the sweetest spot in the house... standing on top of Shoe and Roll's F-14 A Tomcat. Did you see their show? Two truly great guys who gave me a cockpit tour of their F-14, and let me hang around when they were preflighting the Cat. Awesome. Saturday's TTT show was funnier than sh*t cause I parked my car just as it started..and BOOM! car alarms were blaring all over. Good weekend it was, indeed.IP: Logged |
