Hello All!, Some of you may have been over to my site & see (maybe even downloaded?) some of my ground divisions for use with drivable Sherman IIs & Tiger IIs. I was wondering if someone could build some drivable tanks with working turrets & gun elevators as well as any other ground combat units (you can drive the Sherman IIs & Tigers IIs, but you can hardly hit anything). Just think of the possble senarios. Imagine having to take off under enemy ground fire to get airbourne & get those tigers before they roll right over you. Imagine the challange of trying to hit a moving ground target or trying to get your Sherman across El Djem bridge before the Stukas take it out from under you. I think if this could be done, it would give SDOE a whole new dimesion. hip63 www.geocities.com/hip63.geo/fightersquadron.html P.S.- I uploaded the US 3rd Armored Division & added it to my site today & I'm still workin' on my Desert Fox campaign complete with Monty's 8th Army & Rommel's Afrika KorpsIP: Logged |

Hi hip63. Archy and I work on tanks on and off, in part because of other projects and in part because the interest around here seems luke warm at best. The only tank in development that I'm aware of right now is the T34 I'm working on, and it's in Pete's hands for a mesh resize at the moment. Here's another idea for you modern buffs- If we could get a heavy lift aircraft, imagine loading armoured cav units onto a couple planes from some african airbase and invading one of the islands!! Imo that could give rise to some seriously cool potential for a modern sdoewar. Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! IP: Logged |

I see no reason at all why this wouldn't work. You can control the heavy guns on ships and gun emplacements no problem, and turrets on planes aer fine. These tanks are 'planes' at heart anyway!Might try a cut, paste of a turret onto the driveable sherman and see what happens! IP: Logged |

Um... how about copy/pasting the turret of the latest Tiger beta? (12, I think) I use that tank and do quite well against other vehicles. Practice makes perfect!Werner IP: Logged |

Hip, Both the Drivable Sherman, and Tiger have working turrets and guns that elevate: There are two crew positions not 1, hit f7 f6 then you control the turret. I experimented with a 1 position tank earlier, it just doesnt work that great(check out earlier panzer betas)(www.mosquitonet.com/~blodgettIP: Logged |

Btw hip... feel free to 'animate' a tank in sdoe!! Extra hands are always welcome! (*werner says that like he has actually done something with OP and vehicles*) Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! [This message has been edited by Werner Molders (edited 10-19-2000).] IP: Logged |

Sturm, first get Spyders excellent SDOE control and install that. Then run it, and look for the box that says : take control of any unit. Click to check that box. Now this is only for offline mode so it doesnt work online. (however you may be able to switch to the position online, you cant take control.Archy IP: Logged |
