Hey guys

OK, in keeping with my idea of SDOE covering all air warfare eras I've been doing work on other modern ground units, so.. here's whats soon to be released......

SSN Oscar Class beamer

M1A1 Abrams MBT

ZSU23-4

OK, and here's the question..

Since Spin is doing the new plane pack, I was thinking about putting a zip pack together of my units, and any others that people want me to add.

I have 2 options:

1. Modern Units Pack to include all my recent odern units, then another pack containing my WW2 Ships, and a 3rd pack with my WW2 ground units.

2. Put everything together in 1 pack.

So, tell me, would you like a seperate zip pack for ground units since they don't affect the online standard? I'm thinking of this primarily for my own units, but it could be a good idea to add others, which ofcourse I will in anycase if the people with other ground units/ships want me to add them.

PS, the Osacr has no air defence, would you like me to break with tradition and add any deck guns for AA?

Well, let me know your thoughts guys, as I said, the idea is mostly for my units, but if you guys don't want them in a pack like that then there;s no point in doing it, so let me know.

Thanks All

~Nat~

Spanky here...

what about a modern online standard pack?

With all the modern ground and air units we can find right now.

That way We can actually fly these cool planes in missions online.

Nat,
i think you shoudnīt put it together. The files here are growing and growing and growing. And if there are more modern units in future (in air -on the ground) itīs easier to update them (i think!).
I donīt need a race of the biggest files!

Nat,

I was thinking of adding the ground units to the optional par file (with training missions etc). This way people with bandwidth problems have the option of downloading individual files from your site and others or grabbing all in one shot.

Depending on the size of the file - with and without the modern era units - I don't expect it will make a huge difference - put the zip together whichever way works for you and post a link - i'll pick it up and see how big a difference it makes - it's probably more efficient to keep this in one pack though to avoid unnecessary duplication.

I saw your post about the yamamoto - I'll include it.

rgr that Spin, it was a thought just incase it helped out some, the modern era units may not be ready for your new pack but I'll see what I can do ok

~Nat~

Spanky, in the future I think it would be a good idea to split modern aircraft and units from the main pack, but right now I don't think we have enough, the A10 isn't ready for sure, so the actual aircraft we have would just be the P80, F86 and the Harrier, and modern units that are ready are really only the T80 and the Radar Station. IMO once the A10 is finished, and possibly the F14 and 15 finished and updated (hopefully with the catapult & arrestor system) and the migs that are being worked on are finished, then it could well be worth it's own pack, that would give us 4 US jets, 1 British, and 2 Russian/Korean jets.

It's just so cool to see SDOE growing so rapidly now into so much more than it's ever ben before

Nat - I don't know if this answers the question exactly, but I am one who is in favor of separating by era. To further separate by ground, sea, air objects would be great, IMO. But it is a huge task...do what you think is best. I'm getting so brain addled that I count all my fingers and toes every day when I wake up, just to make sure I still have em all - I couldn't even conceive of doing what you are thinking, or what Spin is doing for the Plane Pack. I am just thankful all you guys are out there, working your magic.

I have to agree with the era thing.

We need to have seperate ground unit packs for Modern, WW1, WW2, and Korean units. THis may involve some duplication (T34 used in both) but it gives people the option of downloading what they want, and not cluttering up their install with stuff they don't want. I like all the stuff! but I also think the choice is key.

I also agree to the era divisions..... (though I did make some just for fun Time Warp missions with 1 WWII plane vs 7 WW1 planes.... Hehehe.)
