QUESTIONS FOR THE COMMUNITYI just downloaded the SEAFIRE, in my opinion one of the coolest downloads in a while. Also, put together nicely with losts of help files both in the added text files and training explinations. Not to be an ungrateful S.O.B., but would'nt it be nice to be on the deck of a carrier and hear the actual SOUNDS of a carrier, you know, the noise of things around you, engine of the carrier, someone yelling Stand by for catapult or ...... I don't know .....whatever you'd hear on a carrier around you!
Also I was thinking, how hard would it be to have more atmospheric-little-localized sounds, you could even have them as add on's like the klaxon. Which is nice for that realistic touch. For example,
-birds tweeting, great for sunny conditions
-seagulls, for the carrier
-tower announcements,i.e. "Col. henry, report to officers quarters, col. Henry please, report to ,(or mess hall,or hanger 2 or briefing, or tower or munitions or..map room.etc). Scramble all fighters, incoming, scramble, scramble, ALL Positions, this is not a drill.....etc. -This would be cool for designing air raid missions-.
-noises of an airfield
-a distant noise of a jeep approaching and then fading off in the distance. as if it's going right behind you.
-a platoon doing marching drills in the distance..left left left right left. and LEFT
companyyyyyy halt! or you could have them coming and going behind you like the jeep.(I imagine this would be a hoot to research all the different nation's marching cadences and apply that to the choices when designing nation specific missions.
-sound of someone working on a plane, pnueamatic drill, a rivetor, hammering
-thunder, for those heavily overcast missions.
-and while rain may be far off in visualizing, how bout the sound of rain.
-the Sound of rain pelting the cockpit glass, this would be an airfield-on-the runway-sound
AND so much more....
This would be a nice project for someone to do to add that nice tiny realistic detail that would really make a difference in the world of SDOEP. Screamin Demons Over Europe and Pacific, (an anacronym which I think we should start using, when referring to the game, as an homage to how much everyone in the community has contributed to make the game better and even change it. It also makes a nice allusion to the game being indeed, ....Doep, dope.)
Pardon me for rambling, I just a peasant.
you can tell by the spelling.
