And so, it was a great surprise when once again I was contacted about this aircraft under development. For now, it seems the spark of hope we had has fanned into a flame.

Consolidated released, with the Governments approval, 4 images of the redesigned aircraft. And though we cannot show them to you directly for security reasons, we can point to to where they may be found.

We are told these are not images of the plane itself. This is however an approximation of how the finished version will appear.

The flight proving ground is now barred to us, so we can be relatively certain that flight testing has now begun in earnest.

Should war come to the Pacific, as indeed it seems that it may, this flame may blossom into a bonfire to help light the way to victory.

Since Consolidated Engineering delivered the initial pre-prototype for evaluation at the Top Secret flight proving grounds, work has continued to improve tail surface controls, and to provide better internal accomodation for the crew. Floats and rigging gear is still under construction at the factory.

Delivery dates to Navy units are still unclear...

Actually it is kind of fun to try and capture the flavor of the old news reels. I remember on Saturday TV in the afternoon there was a show called "The Big Picture" This was the ending of the newsreel type coverage....

And yes, you did get that unfortunate assignment as head of the opposition.. In fact I've made a nice mounting out of that tail section you lost over eastbourne...
