Here's some takeoff trim settings i find helpful:

190A4 - 20 clicks right aileron (r arrow)
20 clicks right rudder (control r arrow)

Spit - 20 clicks right aileron.

If you set this before you take off you can take off full throttle and the planes handle well. If you come up with any more post em !

I might try that on the Spit - I have been using 3 to 5 clicks right aileron, full back on stick until speed reaches about 60, then let nose down; she wants to swerve left, a little right rudder until wing begins to dip, then left rudder and a tad right stick, lift off ( in the IX ) at 135 to 155.

The 190A4 I really have trim probs with, and I will definitely try that. I might try some up trim also - this gives me the most fits in that plane, She always wants to nose up like a rocket on me in flight, and makes it frustrating trying to keep any E advantage. Does it with every attitude change, even a minor change in direction or altitude.

Thanks for the tips!

I got the idea after playing aces high.. all the planes especially the spit start out with the aileron trim cranked all the way to the right by default on takeoff.

TS, do you trim back to neutral after airborne and then adjust for torque, or do you have a set number of clicks back that takes care of it?

After takeoff I trim the rudder neutral, trim the elevator until i am climbing at my target speed and trim the aileron left until the plane flies with no stick.

I wrote a training guide to help folks who were struggling to take off in the 109E-4 without taking a trip across country. The procedure is similar for all the 109s (The K-4 is very slippery on the ground and needs extra care).

Take off procedure for SDOE Bf109E-4 (PP5.3b version)

1. Close throttle (10% indicated on HUD).

2. Start engine.

3. Release brake.

4. Use the rudder to ensure you are aligned with the runway as you slowly roll forwards.

5. Apply light backwards pressure on the stick to hold the tail down.

6. Open throttle to 45% and leave it there

7. As aircraft gathers speed use right rudder to keep aligned with runway.

8. Once you reach approximately 60 miles and hour, lift the tail up.

9. Use left rudder to counter the swing to the right once the tail comes up.

10. At 100 miles an hour, gently apply back pressure on the stick until the aircraft lifts off.

Notes:-

Practise using the F3 chase view to see how the aircraft acts.

The snap from left to right can be quite severe if you use more than 45% throttle.

If you try to lift off before enough speed is attained the left wing will drop (stall)

In real life 20 degree flaps would be used. No flaps are needed in SDOE.

Apply too much throttle and the torque will get the better of you.

Try to lift the tail up to soon will result in the aircraft swinging to the left or right.

Wimpy - shag rudder slight left when plane reaches 70mph, slowly bring rudder back to center. I don't know if this was accurate for the plane as I don't have that kind of data yet, nor do I know if it swung when the airspeed was low.
