Argonv, can you outline what ya need to do to change a plane for use under a different country?
As you might know i'm working on canada for nations and its going to need to have some planes for it. thanks.

It can be a long or short process depending on the plane and the number of SM files it uses.Here are the steps I use that seem to work for me fairly quickly. 1. Copy paste the existing plane in a new directory in the aircraft folder (lets call it CanadaPlaneX) 2. Change the loadout so the plane is now 'strCanada and change the Gui refrences so they are under Canada as well. 3. Rename the copied planes sm file to CanadaPlaneX.sm (also change the name of any other SM files the plane may use) 4. Open up the plane in OPS v1.3 and change the appropriate tif directory refrences so they dont point to the origonal plane. 5. If you want, change the root name of the plane. I sometimes do and sometimes dont. 6. I personally open up the CanadaPlaneX.sm file (and any other SM files the plane may use) in a Hex editor and do a search for the origonal planes directory refrences and when ever it finds one, I rename it to point to the new directory. (If Ive renamed the planes root name, I do a search of what it was origonally and change it as well) You can however do this under OPS. It takes more time but may be less confusing. I like doing it in a Hex editor because its fast and you dont miss renaming anything. You just have to be careful as to not rename the wrong thing. 7. Now do the missions, hangar pic and wala! P.S. I forgot to mention... the name of the plane in the loadout.ppf file has to be diffrent than the origonal one. Otherwise when you build a mission, you will have lets say two Hurricane Mk.Ic's and you wouldnt know which one to pick. There for, use the name of the squadron that the paint scheme is done for ie. Hurricane Mk.I 'Alsace' or put the country it goes under infront of it ie. RAAF Mosquito FB.VI [This message has been edited by ArgonV (edited 10-01-2000).] IP: Logged |

One more thing Jug guys... if I can do a copy/paste/rename job of the Jug, would one of you send me the latest Jug all zipped up? Argon,For me it's OK if you make derivates, just keep on your toes to keep up with updates, whenever they might occur. The one in contest pack 1.1 is the latest official jug release. We're working slowly on adding more things, but as none of us are spending that much time on it, the progress is quite slow.

Do what you want to with it. Unfortunately I don't have any bare silver templates, so if you want French markings you will have to paint over the US markings. I may have saved some files that didn't have the insignias, I'll check on them when I get home. If you want them that is IP: Logged |
