Guilty... I can only plead that I had to reinstall SDOE after getting a new HD, and the place I work is involved in a labor dispute. Contract ended last night midnight and still no movement one way or another. I have been working some OT, and if it goes to strike, will be working 6 days a week 10 hours a day...so I haven't had a lot of time to get online. Once things calm down a bit, I will. Hehe..I really am getting too old for this macho strutting bullcrap..they should just put 2 negotiators out there with broadswords and the survivor wins.

I had alot of problems with CTDs.. I fixed them by wiping out my SDOE directory completely and reinstalling everything from scratch. I flew all night without a CTD, usually i would crash every other time in the lobby.

LOL!! Y'know, one of the very first things that happened to me after I completely reinstalled SDOE was a CTD; I figured I must have done the reinstall correctly when that happened!!

Man, Tailslide, I'm sorry. Look, if ya keep working at it, I'm sure you'll get it right.............

Must be something you did beyond what I did - I didnt change my CPU or anything. I wonder if maybe upgrading to ME might fix part of it? Supposedly it handles Internet connections much bet------oh, wait, it's still Windows...

Seriously, though, do you think that might have helped?

It might have.. windows ME completely drops the DOS layer from the operating system, and it also comes with all the up to date direct x, patches, drivers, etc. I have my doubts tho. Heres some other changes i made:

Flashed by video bios with the latest non-sideband version for the TNT2.

Downloaded the latest windows motherboard chipset drivers for my VIA chipset.

Set mobo bios settings to default conservative values.

Turned on DMA for all drives.

Flashed my motherboard with the latest bios.

Converted all my partitions to fat 32 and defragged them.

I think it was probably getting rid of my huge number of online missions and clearing out the SDOE cache that did it though. I played again last night and had no crashes.

What is the use of a plane pack if nobody use it. We already have a plane pack but people are still having conflicts. Will it be different if a new plane pack is released?

TS,

BTW, Again, thanks much for putting a link to the sdoe servers on your main page. I use it often.

Anyway... the servers page wasn't updating yesterday, so I'm wondering if you made any changes to it lately? Regardless, I thought I'd let you know.

Hi Gustang, yes my server became unstable yesterday after running for two months straight so I rebooted it last night. Should be good for another couple months.

Thanks for that info, Tailslide. Turns out, other than upgrading to ME and getting the latest Windows chipset drivers for my MB, I did all the same things. Hmm..wait..I didn't upgrade my network card drivers...might try that. Thanks again.

Spanky here...

Does it emulate dos so you can still use all those handy dos commands and little apps>?

such as,

Ping

and
pkunzip>?

I really like my dos, hehe, i think they should get rid of it but I don't think windows is enough yet to do what i want

Yes spanky, you still get a dos box. The option to boot into dos mode is gone though. You can still do it by making a boot floppy.

I like it.. really speeds up startup shutdown times.. i boot in 12 seconds and shut down in 3 seconds now
