When I install the 1.5 patch the ability to fly with the mouse seems to be eliminated. I'm then stuck with an old joystick that is just terrible. I don't care for joysticks. I always prefer a mouse anyway. Is there ANY WAY to get around this? The control options in this game are terrible. I don't think I can even flip/reverse the mouse axises (before the patch is installed, and I CAN use the mouse, but the axises are flipped the wrong way and it's hard to fly). Also, in the spot plane view, where it follows your plane outside, the distance from your plane is very far -- and you can't seem to change that distance nor move the camera (in the F2 view you CAN, but it doesn't follow your plane from behind). Can this be changed in the INI file? Thanks for the help, CRTF IP: Logged |

I haven't got the details right now, but I know other have and will post for you, but to calm your nerves a little... yes you can use the mouse to fly if thats what you prefere, yes you can have the chase cam closer than that, but you can't zoom in during flight, it's a set distance. You can invert the mouse. All these things are in the ini file, I believe the mouse controls are in the keyboard.inp, but as I said, I know others will have the details and post this for you ~Nat~

--- Hi, I have Control 2000 now and that seems to help. I can invert the mouse, too, in the event I get it working. Please send me your keyboard INI file to CRTF@sedona.net --- THANK YOU! This will make the game much more enjoyable. IP: Logged |

If you want have an adjustable view that allows you to follow the plane at different distances heres what to do: Go to the F2 view and press 5 until the camera is stuck in position - yank and bank a bit and if the view stays locked then its right. Then put looking at the back and you can zoom in or out as much as you want. Snake IP: Logged |

I'm glad u r enjoying SDOE, no matter what imput device u r using, CRTF.However, it is beyond me how anybody could play SDOE or any other flight sim with anything but a joystick with a twist rudder, and if possible a set of rudder pedals. If u can fly & fly well with a mouse, u r a better man than me Gungadin...[This message has been edited by Hawkwind (edited 09-27-2000).] IP: Logged |
