How does it smell.....

Need to do some damage LOD's now, and fiddle a bit with the damage modelling. Also, need to make sure the nose doesn't always take the pilot out too.

The tail is seperate too.

Have to do some fiddling with the physics of the nose, to get the inertia etc. right. Also, the DOF's for the guns went wacko when I rebuilt the OL file. Would have been so much easier if the bloody glass hadn't been a single piece for the whole bloody plane....

Oh, as a PS...

This is a B17F.

I removed the remains of the chin turret that remained on the other B17f. Also, the glass has gone from the waist gunners. This didn't get added until the 17G came in. Late F's got it as a retro fit mod. More detail work needed, since this isn't just going to be a quick 'chop the nose off' job, but a 'do the 17f properly while I'm at it, and re-vamp the DM as per my previous attempts and add the gunners if the frameratesa can hack it. Don't know what has happened to Farmer Joe....he was doing some higher poly models for the co-pilot and waist gunners...
I will have to proceed without. Get in touch if you're out there FJ!!!!

One question: HOW DOES IT SMELL? lol ;p

Great work, horrific when you think about it in RL but a nice touch of realism for us boy (and girls) living it's fantasy

Oh that is so kewl!

P.S. When your B-17s are all ready to be shipped, would you consider finishing up the Yorktown? Now that we have torpedoes I must sink her!

Did you every read KG200?
One of the best crashes of a B-17 I.ve ever read. The nose comes off but with the flight deck- really cool!

Well, she had a little more wing when I started final approach......

did somebody say yorktown.....

That little project had been on hold pending my gettign hold of some pics that showed where the guns went. Visited the folks a few weeks back, and guess what Dad had sitting on his coffee table?

A book on aircraft carriers. Everyone from 1914 to 1970. Three ways. Deck plans. Specs . The works.

He spent 25 years in the RN, fleet air arm. Worked on Vixens, Phantoms and lastly Harriers. He's even got a set of full deck plans for Nimitz!

hey, now that I think about it. If you have some extra time, you might want to take the fixed props I made from the B-17G and slap them on the F. Never did have time to do that.

Nice work man. Looks awsome!
