Looks great! Wow, I've never seen the B-29 fly or a Lanc. You lucky guy The Snowbirds are great. Nothing like seeing 9 planes in formation, very cool.

Well, yesterday I drove the 3-4 hours to Elmira and was greeted by scattered showers all day The Lanc never did show due to the weather...but as I got there, I was greeted by the Golden Knights parachuting down- man they are amazing. Next up was the A-10 demo (Nat-- will you get her done already so I can fly her-- what a rush!)... then I walked around and looked at what was there- 3 Mustangs, a P-40 (I got some cockpit shots if you need them Falck!), an Avenger, a Corsair, and one I have never seen in person before- a P-47 (man- you guys on Team Jug were spot on in every way!!! You got all of her lines right down to the last minute detail!!), 3 B-17's (one F--- the Memphis Belle tht was flown in the movie), and 2 G's--Yankee Lady, and the one that is always at Elmira-- Fuddy Duddy (did you guys know that one of the better NY vineyards here named one of their wines after her-- Fortress Blush-- I still have the bottle ), a B-25 Mitchell, and tucked away in the corner was Diamond Lil (a LB-30) and the B-29 Fifi (man-- I thought she was huge, but they put her next too a Stratotanker and a Galaxy- so it was hard to get a scale on her ... I wanted to get into the B-29 for a tour, but the lines were pretty long all day (Not as long, though, as the lines to get Robert Morgan's autograph--- but I did stand there and watch him for a while-- he looks pretty good- still all smiles and very charismatic). At about 1:30, they had a F-117A fly-by...man those things are amazing!! Quite a sight to see!!

As the day wore on, I saw them start to tow Fifi and Diamond Lil to one of the runways...then they started the engines and they taxiied out...along with all the fighters and other bombers....but alas it started to get overcast so they taxiied back off the runways and let the Snowbirds go first in hopes that the weather would clear later... the Snowbirds put on quite a show (you Cacandians should be proud--- they were great!!)...and then there was the big letdown of the day-- the crew of Fifi decided the weather was not ideal and cancelled the flying demo...so I never saw her take off (which is completely understandable with it being the only B-29 in flying condition in the world!)....and the fighters decided also to stay on the ground (I was quite disappointed...I really wanted to see the Jug take off!)...luckily when I first got there, the Corsair, Mustangs, and P-40 were doing a demo so I did get to see that for a brief moment...but I guess those cockpits are leaky and the cloud cover made them nervous to be flying around at the speeds they do. However, the LB-30, 17's, and B-25 did take off and they were a marvel to watch!

So my only wish was that I could go back today when the weather might allow Fifi and the fighters to fly...but 4 hours is quite a drive-- and wifey would kill me for even asking

Thanks for the update Jeeves Sounds great. You know, personally I'd drive 4 hours just to see Robert Morgan sitting in a field by himself! The guy is such a huge part of this country's history. I am glad that his wife emailed me way back about posting on my old forum, that he was just too busy but he did thank me for thinking of him and the countless others who flew the B-17.

Sorry to hear about the B-29, that would have been incredible.

I was there also, I had a great time. My favorite moment was having the three B-17s taxi right by me, Fuddy Duddy's wing passing directly over my head. Their landing gear was squeaking and squealing as the big planes bumped over the ground. They looked about twice as big watching them manuveur on the grass.
Sitting in the nose of a B-29 was pretty cool too I'm also a sucker for the high speed passes close to the ground, in this case provided by an F-18. It was just past us before you could hear it, then you heard it quite well
