Aladar,

what was the point in your posting that stuff in the EAW forum over at combatsim? I initially thought you were just showing some SDOE stuff off over there due to youthful exhuberance, etc. but after reading your posts over here, I get the feeling that you did intend to 'pick a fight' as someone put it over there.

Just what was the point in that? Sure, I can understand trying to drum up some interest in SDOE since the community is pretty small but do you think you've achieved anything positive by what you've done?

I'm just left shaking my head at this.

Whether EAW is the number one WWII sim or whatever is irrelevant (I highly doubt that anyway - just try and find it at your friendly neighborhood software retailer). That does not justify going over to the EAW forum and effectively saying 'We rule, you suck'.

I have to somewhat agree here. Personally, a great sim is one that I enjoy...I enjoy both SDOE and EAW. I bought WWII Fighters and CFS. With the current trend in marketing targeting combat flight sims as a risky venture, we different sim communities need to support each other, not dwell on the perceived weaknesses of each sim. The EAW community is filled with great folk, as is ours...friendly rivalry is fine, let's just try not to let it spill into flames.

I will likely get B17II despite no MP; I wil likely get IL2, though I have absolutely no interest in that theater and it will just sit around unplayed. I will definitely get BoB, and hope it works as advertised...but the point being, if one can afford it and you care about our hobby, then we need to support each other by supporting the industry. The impact just these 2 communities alone could have in the overall picture might be greater than we think.

I loved the ground attack aspects of Jane's WW2 Fighters. Coming in low over a hill and lining up on a Panzer, wiggling the rudder a bit, and firing off some 30mm shells is quite fun. Il-2 looks like it will do this very well and I'll definately be getting it.
