Hey guys, if you haven't but would like to, the download link is http://members.xoom.com/naturlich/A10Beta1.zip

There's quiet a discussion going on about control surface damage recently, I have added this to the A10 in a very different way to Raider, and because of this I would like reports on your findings.

Please note, a 20/30 min flight in the A10 will require atleast 3000lbs of fuel, if you put to little fuel in the flight characteristics are very different (this is has been adressed in my current working model)

I need to know:
1. Do you notice ailerons/elevatros becoming harder to use when you have H Stab/Wingtip damage?

2. Snap rolls while banking/turning due to damage?

3. Generaly more erratic in flight after damage?

You can easily see damage by the bullet holes, cannon holes, blast burns.

The ailerons should become steadily more difficult to use as damage gets higher, the damage effects each aileron/elevator seperately, at low damage levels there should be little difference, but at high damage levels or high speeds it should become much more apparent.

I personally have seen all of the above effects, but to be certain of my findings I could really use some feedback now before I get the A10 back for updating and final release.

As a foot note, currently the A10 has had fuel redistributed and the aircraft reballanced so that low fuel levels does affect the handling. A completely new type of mount has been added for much better fire/weapons control. A completely new HUD has been added, it's in the final stages of developement now (a more proper HUD rather than just a target reticule )

Thanks guys, I could really do with your findings

~Nat~

yea, i made a 6 on 6 mission and the AI and myslef was going at it for what seem like hours. After a few well placed hits i saw the outter wing come off and then the right engine start smoking. I already have holes in my plane from another guy my wingman got off me. I watch the AI fight to keep the plane in the air for well over 30 mins. at like 2000 ft after he couldn't hold it anymore, the AI punched out and i watched the plane roll in. It was a really great missoin and i love flying this plane. Mapping should be finished tonight.

Thanks Razer, yeah I've found the AI will try like hell to keep the A10 in the air.. have you noticed any of the control effects I mentioned? Handling probs with damage?

Yea, i did notice the snap rolls with damage. I had one of the A-10s fire 2 rounds which hit my left wing, it hit me pretty hard and it jurked to the left. After that if i pulled to hard it would snap. Was rather cool.. I took the wing off of one of the A-10's (as seen in the images above) and he never got out, just kept flying and then hit the ground when he tried to turn and it snapped on him.

The FPS is low since there is only high detail, but once the lower LODs are added and the high detail switches out, 9 on 9 combat would be great!

Looks really fun! I'll try it in a few.

Just my thoughts on switching in and out... for the planes I do when I'm working with the highest level LODs and haven't put in the lower ones I crank up the distance VERY high so they don't go invisible on me. Just a thought, since it's so easy to change when new parts are added (the other LODs).

Pete, it is, but with 12 planes with around 1800 polys it starts killing FR..

Well, use less At least with less you can see them in the distance! It's kind of annoying to see nothing and then have a plane switch into view. (For me anyways)

Great, even with just these findings I can see that I wasn't imagining the control damage, there isn't alot to it, mostly changes in the airAdvantage, but since this one thing makes it either easier or harder for an aileron/elevator to operate I thought it would be just about all that really needs to be changed, and it seems I was right, I'll experiment with other changes later, but right now I'm happy with what you've found Razer

I think that the wings stay viewable from greater distances in that model than the nose and fuse does, but yeah, it's a pain at middle distance, but I have the second and 3rd levels ready for implatation.. lol

Hey Sickers, I've been doing alot of jet fighting recently, A10, F86, P80, XV-A6 Harrier.. let me tell you.. you're damn straight they appear out of nowhere!! it's wicked having a tight close up dogfight then suddenyl a P80 screams over your head leaving you with a crew cut.. the aircraft rocking below you.. and then almost as it's gone by you hear these darn jet engines screech by.. I've been loving the jets, very different fighting, but so much damn fun

Nat, you may wanna rename the A-10 to Warthog instead of Thunderbolt II. Warthog is more used, and sounds a lot better

Warthog is more common, but it is a Thunderbolt II

Hello Nat,

Your plane is great ! I found only one problem, I cannot have the Mavericks wether visible nor working (with the mission included in the zip). Do you have an idea how to fix that ?

Thank you for your help.
