No I have not suddenly turned into a plane builder overnight. Bishop is at this moment crossing the Atlantic for a 4 month spell in Germany, he tried to post these before he left but the Simfiles server was unreachable. He emailed them to me for posting, there's your explanation.Note from Readme,
Readme for Beaufighters I,VI,X,21 (Version 2)
Installation:
Unzip to your Media Directory.
Add the contents of Airfoils.txt to your startup.ppf folder
That's it.
If you have the new Nations with Australia included, you can make the following changes
to make the Beaufighter Mk 21 available as an Australian plane:
(1) in the Beau21 directory:
rename "loadout.ppf" to any backup name you want.
rename "loadout_Australia.ppf" to "loadout.ppf"
(2) move the "Beau21" directory from media/hangar/great britain to media/hangar/australia
(I don't have the new nations yet, so I'm not too sure if this will work)
First of all, to give credit where credit is due:
The Original Visual Model was done by Whirlwind, available at
http://msnhomepages.talkcity.com/TwitchTr/bcford/sdoe.htm
The propellors were taken from the SBD dive bomber done by Jaguar, Jedi, Jeeves,
Nat and Tailslide, available at http://www.FSHangar.com
The damage model was esentially copied from the Pe-2 done by Laika801, available
at http://rcswww.urz.tu-dresden.de/~re723888/Pe2_LatestVersion.zip
Several fixes to version 1 were made by ArgonV.
Sound files were done by Commando, available as separate files
at http://www.simfiles.com
Incredible help was found at the FSIC messageboard,
http://www.fightersquadron.com/cgi/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro. It seemed like
anytime I had a question, somebody had already given the answer.
Special thanks to ArgonV for a load of help with the first release versions.
What's new in version2:
-Incorporates all the fixes made by ArgonV:
-minor visual changes.
-fixed engine problem on Beaufighter MkX.
-improved the DOFs on the landing gear to make them close better.
-decreased explosiveness when destroyed.
-made the flight model less manouverable.
-Original sound files were replaced by Stereo sounds made by Commando.
-Major rework of fuselage visual model to make more accurate.
-Strengthened the landing gear.
-Propellors were replaced with a lower poly count model, fixes visual distortion in
the original propellors.
-Moved guns to more accurate position.
-Removed the yellow line from the main panel (more accurate this way)
-Added new loadout options for Beaufighter MkVI and Beaufighter MkX. There is now an option
for radar. Adds the "thimble-nose" AI radar to the visual model.
-It is now possible to remove the rear canopy railing through the loadout file. I haven't
added any loadout options that can do this but anybody can do this if they want. This will
allow a more accurate visual model since many beaus had the rear gun removed.
The steps are:
(1)open the appropriate loadout.ppf file in the beau__ folder
(2)change occurrence of "gun1_rail" to "gun1" to hide the railing (don't delete
the gun data, just change the name)
(3)if you want to remove the gun itself, delete the line containing "RadioGun"
I left the gun in for all the current loadouts because it is fun to use.
-I tried to fix the gas gauges. Still no luck.
This will be the last release of the beaufighter from me for some time. I will try to
make sure major issues get fixed but....real life sucks.
