OK, i've been messing with the A-10 for NAT and i've run into a little problem. I had this problem ont he P-39 when i added the second LODs and i see NAT has had the same problem. The second LODs are, for some reason, set as the default LODs. It shows them and not the Level 1 LODS. Any Idea how to get the plane so see the level 1 LODs as the default? ------------------ Tony "Razer" Martin "Making SDOE a dangerous Place, One plane at a time!" FS Hangar IP: Logged |

Just a guess... but it sounds like its doing the thing backwards. So try putting in the second detail LODs in first and the first detail LODs second.------------------ -=Make sims, not hype=- Visit My Site! http://ArgonV.tripod.com/My_Page.html IP: Logged |

I must admit I hadn't noticed that Razer.. I don't think you need to worry about it though, it'll just make a little more work later, I will be adding second level LODS, so I think the easy way round this is that I will copy the second level lods into the first level lods, then replace the meshes for the 2nd level to the lower detail ones.. that should hopefully solve the problem.... well, even more bad news, I imported the new tail into the second slot and now the part is invisible. wierd huh? I'm not sure what's up. I'll check tomorrow to see if the part is just being imported into the center of the plane. Nat, i had a little time to do some dogfighting in the A-10 and i must say it's very fun. I did notice that the pilot bails out even if the plane has very little damage. The pilot may have been set to wussy in the missioneditor, but he bailed once the left engine started smoking. Well, he was missing part of the tail, but i normally stay in till the last minute. I'll see what i can do with the new parts. I looked over that fuse problem and it looks as if the parts i talked about earlier are to small to meet the fuse. removing the fuse part might leave a hole. I'll find out more tomorrow or Mon. Hey Razer, I just checked, and all my LODS are 1st level, the only part that has a second level LOD are the Hstabs, they have 1st and 2nd levels, both the same model, so maybe the extracting and rebuilding has pushed all yours to second level for some reason... wierd things happening.. lolOh, with the bailing out, yeah check your sliders, to be honest I've only seen him bail once or twice, usually he'll fly on fairly well even with a wingtip missing.. but I think if you do enough damage to the engines he will bail, enough damage and the engine output is barely enough to fly with or even no power, so maybe thats why he's bailing out on you. You'll find that unlike the AI though, you can fly the A10 with quiet a few bits missing.... lol IP: Logged |

Make sure your switchout distance in OPS is set correctly.LODS are ordered by their switchout distances when you use Hippie's builder as well, in case you happen to be using that.

Well, i'm on a little vacation since this job hunting thing is driving me crazy, so this will be short. I think i remember that the distance on the first LOD is 400. So, if i'm thiking the right OP thing, then that part shouldn't switch in till your 400 ft away? or it switches out 400 ft. Level 2 is like 12,000 or something. Nat will have to check since i'm not at home.

No, switchouts are set to the switch in distance you want, squared. So:Switchout Setting / feet it will switchout 1 / 1 foot 16 / 4 feet 100 / 10 feet 10000 / 100 feet 250000 / 500 feet 1000000 / 10000 feet Etc. I imagine that this saves a calculation in the rendering engine or something... -Sv IP: Logged |

I still don't quiet understand what went wrong though, the A10 only has 1 LOD and was set as a first level LOD before, the only part with 2 LODs were the HStabs, maybe it's a quirk somewhere that put them back as second level, but aslong as what SV has said has helped then I guess thats cool.. lolIP: Logged | |
