Well guys...I've tried about everything. Despite the fact that the game worked fine on the same machine under win95...under Win98-B...it still locks up after playing the opening movie. Locks up even if I hit esc during the movie. Stuff I've tried:1. Uninstalled GRAPHICS BLASTER (RIVA TNT) and all related utilities. 2. Uninstalled SDOE 3. Reinstalled both (tried switching sequence...no difference) 4. Tried loading only RIVA TNT's version of Direct6x...then tried loading only SDOE's version. Zilch. 5. Lowered monitor resolution. No change. 6. Bought new monitor (had to anyway..the other one died). No change. With each one of these interventions,I stripped the running programs down to SYSTRAY and EXPLORER. No difference. Of course...I loaded the patch each time. Zilch. The machine: 300mhz Pentium 6.4gig drive 128megs ram Graphics Blaster RIVA TNT with 16megs If any of you guys can think of something else I haven't tried (besides buring incense and making wired noises) let me know. Maybe if whistled the Andy Griffith tune BACKWARDS.....

Spanky here... YOur loading DX7a right? I can't remember if you load it before or after your graphics card but I don't think it would hurt to reinstall it. Its really puzzleing though, does your vid card work fine with other apps and games? or is there some other stuff that won't run also? That could help in narrowing it down a bit. IP: Logged |

Spanky here... HAHA guess i just skimed your post, Try the dx7a though, and what vid card drivers are you using? I tend to just use the shipping drivers that came with the card. I find more upto date drivers give me more problems. Course I'm using a banshee too so ya never know.

Daniel!!Try opening your sdemons.ini and look for this command line IntroMovie=0 Yours probably has a 1 at the end, change it to 0 and it should stop the movie from running, and just might get you into the game Let us know if that helps ~Nat~ IP: Logged |

Hey, Spanky...Yep the card works fine with all other apps. I'm using Direct6, though..not 7a. 7a is a pretty big download, isn't it? All worked fine with same equipment before upgrading to win 98, though. Spanky here... YOur loading DX7a right? When I was running a tnt1 by creative labs, I had to use the reference drivers from the nvidia site to get the game to run, and I was using directX7.IP: Logged |

What's a "reference driver"? quote: Originally posted by goth: When I was running a tnt1 by creative labs, I had to use the reference drivers from the nvidia site to get the game to run, and I was using directX7.

I just checked the creative labs site...and I'm WAY behind on drivers. I'm using version 2.10 of BLASTER CONTROL. The current version is 4 something. I'm downloading it now.they also have a bios flash program. Should I consider that...or leave that alone? quote: Originally posted by goth: When I was running a tnt1 by creative labs, I had to use the reference drivers from the nvidia site to get the game to run, and I was using directX7.
