Been trying out the PBY on the sea strip and the news is not good:IT DOESN'T WORK Thats the bad news.... Good news is the PBY will be great when it's finished... Well, the problem is twofold.
Managed one successful splash & stop, but only in 'god' mode. She blew when damage occurred. Also, when stopped, the water fountains non-stop. It doesn't matter that the object is stationary, and it looks crap. Also, the plane still bounces around. This is due to the wheels. When I blew it on landing, several wheels were still bobbing and bouncing for ages afterwards. The wheels do this when attached to the plane with enough force to lift the plane up and dump it on it's roof sometimes. Unless inspiration strikes, I think this is as far as this idea can go. Still, theres plenty more to do to the otherfields anyway! IP: Logged |

= Sorry (very sorry) to hear that it doesnt work. = Thanks for the compliment. Is there a way to make it so the wheels don't bounce like that? I have never had it flip the plane, but I have had it do damage to the landing gear such that I couldnt take off.... As sv will tell you, I am an (almost) incurable optomist. In this case, I am about cured unless someone figures something else out. I *really* hate to admit it, but I dont think the PBY will be able land on water as the sim engine stands.... ...sigh ------------------ Snickers =FC= IP: Logged |

I might get around to doing some more with the Do18. If I get it looking semi-decent (the effect - the plane really needs texture mapped), I'll send it to you.IP: Logged |

You can land, but not if any part of the plane that comes into contact with the water is liable to damage, or is part of a damage chain. I could land her wheels up in godmode, but no other way. he is fine until youdrop the speed low enough or her to settle her floats into the water. You can't stop the OTT fountain though. It was big enough to obscure the fuse almost completely. This is what I call unacceptable. It should be possible to overcome the bouncing wheels by not using them.....After I landed, though, I couldn't take off again. Not without putting down the wheels....... It's the fountain effect that has killed my enthusiasm for this! IP: Logged |

Wt,I could be wrong but I thought the fountain effect was modifiable. Didn't I hear someone say the fixed the "huge" fountain effect for the 109 a few weeks back? Condor out ------------------

I tried and tried working on this problem about a year or so ago. I gave up as it was much too frustrating (as you are now too finding out). Just wait until it's fixed and works as it should in a future patch. There are plenty of other things to work on in the meantime.IP: Logged |

I know how to make the PBY land on water,, for a mission if you remove an airfield,,or city,, you get a big square blue,, patch
you can pretend it's a lake with water in LOL It should work! no water textures tho! ------------------ 9./JG3_Pye IP: Logged |

actually, if you remove the texture it's still got material.. if you remove the tile though you can fly through the ground.. well, only till you reach 0ft than you crash and burn again.. lol, but I've flown under the big island and out again on the Africa terrain.. lolIP: Logged |
