Well, It's something we all knew sooner or later would happen. So since we knew it was going to happen, it wont make it so hard to deal with. I'm talking about the hangar. with the lack of updates and the fact it's just sitting there not doing anything. I'm sad to say, but it's time to TOTALLY REDESIGN THE HANGAR!!!!!

Though i was going to say something else?

OK, I'm going to add some flash, since that's what i'm learning now. It's going to be totally different then the current version and should look rather cool.

If anyone has any idea's for new things, just post back here and i'll see what i can do.

Spanky here...

Yeah try to get permission to get as many planes, missions and add ons as possible. I only like to visit one place when looking for skins and stuff.

Maybe host a page for some of the painters out there so they still have there own place but it all on one main page.

Hey Razer. Sounds awesome! My suggestion - flash, flash and more flash. There are a number of sites out there, and one site will never have 100% of everything, so instead of breaking your back to collect it all, how about having the coolest interface?

Have you seen the Empire Interactive site? The menu there is really cool! Or something like this: www.rihiveli-island.com/sar2/main/full_frames.html

Because Flash does not contribute to the content of a good web site. Most people want to go to a web site for content not movies, blinking lights, ect.

Exactly.

Most implementations of flash I have seen detract from the purpose of the website.

Plus its proprietary and I'm generally not a fan of proprietary things.

Well imo Razer's record stands for itself in the content department. One more question though, what do you mean by proprietary? (In this context I have no idea what or how something could be any more proprietary than reg. html code)

I'm not going to make the whole site flash, geesh i'm good but not that good. I wanted to setup a little area for the flash. Like the corner image. I was thinking of having it flash and show like gun camrea footage or maybe just some planes flying in formation. Some simple small, and something that would make the site look great..

HTML is a standard.
FTP, HTTP, IRC, JPG, OpenGL, MPx --- all standards

Proprietary stuff...
Glide, Macromedia Flash, ICQ, AIM, realPlayer

Generally I like standard stuff cuz its usually guaranteed to work. Now that im fortunate to have a glide capable card (ie a voodoo) thats not so much an issue, especially with OpenGL and DX growing in popularity. ICQ and AIM really get my goat because they do the same task but in their own ways. There used to be talk of AOL developing a standard but since they acquired the market share in instant messaging thats sort of gone by the wayside.

Now, HTML standardization is very poor because you have Netscape and IE arguing over what the proper implementations of things are (see CSS). But as an industry standard HTML is by definition non-proprietary.

I have seen nice sites done in flash. But I have also seen many 'flash ver 8 required' etc. When I just want some information i really dont want to download a program just to view pretty graphics.

Flash? As I can say I'm almost an expert with Flash, I think that if you mean to use Flash just for moving objects, lighted buttons or everything else of this kind, you don't need to use Flash. The previous interface of the Hangar is simple but functional and is filling perfectly its mission.
I understand that you wish to apply what you have learnt but sometimes the silence says more than the noise. ;^)

Anyway, if you keep Flash in mind and want to pick up some ideas, my own model is Yugo Nakamura: http://www.yugop.com
He is the masterFlash.
Also, you can find a lot of tutorials here: http:// www.were-here.com and http://www.flashkit.com/

Good luck
