If you have tested the P-51D beta 3 please post here so I can get an idea of how many people have tried it. Also please post any problems that you may have had.

There have been 3 problems reported, I need to know who all is having these problems so I may track down what is causing them.

1. Aladar has problem with the plane taking off at 10% throttle, to land he has to cut the engine.

2. Condor is having CTD problems when the left side of the plane is hit from behind.

3. The AI will not take off from a runway (The P-51D in the plane packs can't either, but I hope to fix it)

Please post if you have tested it, and let me know of any problems. Thanks for your help.

Would the propwash on the rudder be the cause for #3?

I haven't noticed the take off thing, and i don't have to cut the engine to land.

I noticed with a few hits and the engine catches fire, the plane blows up shortly after. Not sure if this happened in real life a lot, but if i cut the engine off once it catches fire, should it still blow the plane up?

Also have something else. Did beta3 still use the damage skin? I changed it but can't seem to get it to show up in game. Just the reusable bullet holes.

It's a great plane and i love the new detail. should go real good with the new P-38.

Raider has anyone else noticed the fact that at over 420 mph the wings start to flap and it shakes its self apart? I kid you not.
I tried all 3 .sm files, and this happened with all.

I havent found any place where it misbehaves. (Dont know about the high speed). The landing gear indicators are great, but it would be a pain having the stick moving around in front of the compass in a no HUD game (not that I often play that way....). I like the fact that it doesnt tip stall as easilly, I should make knife fights much more fun... Other I also noticed that it seems to come apart differently (and more realisticly (sp?) than the other) Once I bumped the crest of a hill on low level maneuvers. I succeeded in landing the plane though it was really mushy. Go outside and too a lok at it, from the aft bulkhead back was bent to the port at about 10 degrees! In the past it either would have done nothing, or would have come off entirely...
Great plane, like it truly was.

(BTW there are 2 P51's either out of Chino, Palm Springs or March that routinely fly in formation over my house. Heard engine noises last weekend an thought it might be them... It was a B-25.... !

Thanks for the feed back guys.

Whirlwind, good suggestion. I did cut the tail section from the P-51 in plane pack 5.3 to keep the texture mapping intact. After checking propwash and all other properties with the orginal (only one that takes off) I did find a few differences. However after setting all values the same, it still has the same problem. I will keep checking.

Razer, I can up the damage levels for the engine, I did take the second damage models out. Since the bullet holes use less resources, I thought they would be better. I would like to add a dmg model for ailerons, elevators and rudder.

Crankshaft, I will add that to the list.

Snickers, On final release, we hope to have a low res version with original cockpit - no stick, rudder pedals cockpit reflections (if we ever get them) etc. You can get rid of the stick now just by using the original throttle.sm Since this is a reference file it should not hurt online compatability.

Hmmm.. I do know that shaving the numbers down makes a difference. I shaved the propwash value on all three of the tail surfaces on the SM.79 down to .1 and the extreme turn to the right I was having went away.
