Just to add my thoughts....I have raised issues over ongoing Betas before, and I agreee with some points. Planes which get started should be brought up to a level where they are 'finished' products, which operate reliably and don't cause crashes. AI should be able to use them for missions, and they should be basically 'all there'.
What is happening with planes like the P51 is something different. They are taking a finished plane and added new features and generally pushing back the boundaries. This is a GOOD THING. Also, if we had to wait until every detail was done, FM, latest DM features, and everything anyone could think of, we would never get to see any new planes ever!
There is a happy medium when planes like the P39, Pe2 etc. get released as Beta planes, but are playable as they stand. Since there release they have been improved. What I DONT agree with is planes being released in a clearly unfinished state and NEVER GETTING IMPROVED. I won't point fingers, but there are planes I wish I'd never tried, coz they just weren't ready for release.
I've learnt my lessons however, and necer dive straight in. I wait for posts, and then see what the general consensus of opinion is after the initial rush of enthusiasm, and if a plane doesn't measure up, delete it. When all is said and done, if you don't like the state of a plane, or can see obvious problems, tell the builder, and wait until it's sorted. Alternatively, if the builder hasn't the time or inclination, why not take it on board yourself....(ask first of course)
As far as standards go, the only words that cover it are
PLANE PACK
(opens can of worms....steps back)
