Jeeves Pilot	posted 09-08- 10:04 PM OK--- I tried a search and had trouble narrowing it down---so whoever was working on the mission editor targets that aren't recognized on the map (i.e.-- the radar stations, munitions factory, etc)--I forget who had the list of them all--- did you get it working to the point where the AI recognizes these targets? Please contact me via e-mail--- I need this info for a new campaign...which one you ask? Well--- not giving anything away here...but it involves Dover radar stations and Stuka dive bombers Maybe I can get a He-111 in there before I am done...oh Bryan ------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless! When i set the bombing alt higher ( 6000 feet ) the problem is desame, the Stuka's go lower then they should be. Can i set for divebombing or what is the best thing to do in this case ? Jeeves Pilot	posted 09-09- 09:22 PM AFAIK the AI never dive bomb-- only level bomb. But I have mine set to 6000 and they seem to do fine---what I do notice is that they don't at all take off...and for landing all they seem to do is go in circles until they hit a hill. Hopefully, mposis will work on this or allow someone else to tweak it. It is a great looking plane and a welcome addition. Other than the taking off/landing-- it does a great jobin following waypoints and bombing. manock Pilot	posted 09-11- 02:00 AM It Was I! - Manock! And sadly no AI didnt recognize text edited target designations. A little red diamond does appear on the map over the target but planes blissfully ignore it. Had to settle for the dummy unit method renamed as a Uboat or a Radar Station pioneered by yourself I believe. I dragged out the only two missions have written, Reggie Hunters, and Das Boot Pens to see if they worked under 5.3b which they didnt to my obsessive perfectionist standards so just happen to have been tweaking them around lately. The U Boat Pens all blow up when you toss a BIC Lighter over the side of your Mosquito on top of one submarine, and The Focke Wolfes have become way too touchy about bombing anything less than a major attention grabber like a klaxon or a land parked carrier which kinda takes away from the quiet lay low premise of the mission. When is 5.4 coming out? The FockeWolfes need their balls plastered back on, and wont be writing anything new until then. Take it your working on a Fantasy Campaign since Battle of Brittain Stukas had no idea what those odd radio towers were. In return for giving you the bad news - I havent tried your campaigns under SimFiles because dont know where to get all the add ons but admit to not trying too hard. See profile energy level. Please list the web addresses where they can be found. Or are they part of the add on packs, and just dont know it? Thanks in advance for the reply. wakeup tailgunner Pilot	posted 09-11- 03:15 AM Do the SM files for these have a 'bomb target' model in them? The airfields do, and I would guesss this tells the AI where to drop it's bombs. If you add this to the targets, I don't see why the AI shouldn't have a go at them. IP: Logged

Famously, the Ventnor Radar (Isle of Wight) was bombed (by Stukas) on 12 August 1940 and was off the air for 3 weeks. On the same day Pevensey, Rye (40 bombs in 4 minutes) and Swinggate Radars were bombed. I don't know if the Luftwaffe knew exactly what they were bombing, but I guess they thought the masts were not there to display 'Welcome to England: Please Fly Carefully' signs. Whirlwind Pilot	posted 09-11- 08:02 AM A theory to get them to dive bomb is to set the target height at the first bomb waypoint about 5000ft lower than what the previous one was, and then have the end of bomb run waypoint back at the original height. If all else fails, you could reclass a bomb as a rocket (which the v65 patch AI can actually use) but don't put a rocket motor on it. IP: Logged
Raider Pilot	posted 09-11- 08:03 AM ArgonV, you can use this for a DOF command "oscCmd 'inpWeaponsRelease" This will activate the DOF. However I don't think this will release the Ju88 using a DOF unless; Option 1. Use the DOF to activate an airpoint to break/detach and call a function to detach the Ju88. Option 2. Give the attachment point of the Ju88 the properties of a bomb " obProto CBomb" You may need to use the name of that attachment object in the loadout.ppf. ArgonV Pilot	posted 09-11- 01:36 PM Option 1 is what the Mistel currently uses. (Breaking DOF) The AI cant do it however. What Im trying now is... To have the Ju88 as a bomb that is attached to the Bf-109 in OPS. Then have the command that releases the bomb routed to move the DOF into the airstream so it will break and thus the Ju88 will be able to be released by the AI. Jeeves Pilot	posted 09-11- 04:00 PM Heya guys... Thanks Mr. B....I thought I was going crazy there- I knew I had read some reports as to the Stukas hitting radar towers. I do tend to do a lot of research before I start my campaigns--- if you ever look at the dates, you'd see they are accurate (Ex-- Africa1-- Operation Torch-- correct date...etc) manock-- Thanks for your reply...but it was someone else too who was working with these...they even sent me an e-mail with the list of non-specific targets that could be edited in (it got lost in a hard drive switch). I believe they even got it to work- but I can't for the life of me remember who it was! As far as the renaming a tank to the target method, I must give credit where it is due-- Jaguar first presented the idea to me--- and I flew with it. For downloads to go along with my campaigns, I have no idea where to get them all-- but in my read-mes, I usually list what you need and if I know- who made it. You could always do a search here for it. Now--- will someone own up to it...Raider seems to be ringing a bell- but he may have been the one to send me the fuel capacity info...pretty soon, I'll just give up and go back to my renaming method!! ------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless! manock Pilot	posted 09-11- 04:15 PM Remember that post too as being very lenghty but still remember after all being attempted and analyzed, new targeting methods such as adding a "destruction factor" line didnt work. A noble effort that needed to be expored but one that yielded no usable results. I remember it being a regular poster who made the list.
