I found an old email from Peter (sorry, can't find his last name) with a list of planes and their authors, so I checked the FSD's on my hard drive and lo and behold there they were. I have the following fsd files I can convert to DXF or AC if anyone wants a great model to start with:

Cr32 ( can't do DXF, but looks great as a LOD anyways)
Cr42
MC.200 (202,205 but someone is doing those)
A-20 Havoc - solid nose
A-20 Boston - clear nose

I also have some good starts for the following planes, although I don't have the author's names, as far as I know:

Halifax (I also have a pit picture for it as well as aditional information)
P-40E
Devastator
Betty
Kate
George
Nick
Val
He-111
Kaga - yep, the carrier, pre-tower

I have the author's name, but no idea where it is for the following planes:

He219 'Uhu'
P-61

Planes I can find the authors names for or can get off the net:

Arvo something (have it)
Sothwip Tripe (sorry on the spelling, I am a bit medicated)
A few other WWI planes
A few jet fighters (post WWII,ask)

I can convert them to DXF, AC, and from DXF to some other formats.

Non FSD models (3D Cafe):

Darth Vader's Tie Fighter
KC10
C-5 Galaxy (shoot down PH )
Phantom II
DC-10
B-58 (super high poly count)

I had an ingrown toe nail yanked Weds, so I've had a lot of free time.

Aren't the FS98 MDL files a better start for a basic 3D shape? I mean, I suppose they are more detailed than the average FSD shape?

It depends The Arvo and P-40 model are better than what I have seen in FS98, also I'd rather start with a low poly model and bump it up than start with a high poly model and bump it down. That, and I don't have any of the mdl tools (unless that mdl2fsd works on FS98 models). I have a few mdl that might be worthy.

MDL2DXF works sometimes. Have you read this thread about it a few month ago? It's worth having a look.

I think I did, thanks. Anyways, it looks like it puts you in the same boat, yet with a possibly bigger grocery list of planes. It takes me 4-6 hours to rework a fsd file to port it into SDOE and get it flying. No texturing since I don't have the patience to use SV's methods .

What Russian planes are in your
'arsenal', Biggles?

It might be a good idea to get a temporary pain-killer - a I-153 or a La-5 for us who suffer and will likely continue to suffer until Il-2 is out...

The Arvo is an Avro 504K

The P-40E isn' an E, it is more like a A,B,C model due to the smaller rear windows. I've got the P-40 (which I know someone is working on already) cut up.

Whirlwind,

I have an sm for the P40F.
Unfortunately during a hard drive replacement i lost data and no longer have it.

AFAIK Razer is the only person to have a working copy of it, though im going to go thorugh my ftp accounts and see where i have it backed up. Unfortuantely the entire ac3d files were lost but all the parts had been transferred to sm.

I found the final build of the ac3d file and an .sm.

Not sure if the cockpit is in it or not. Hopefully razer has it, otherwise, ill give you the ac3d file and you can take over.

Im back in class now, so im not working on building models.

My deck is full - J7W1, B-29, Do17z (toy), Do18g (toy) and I sent a 45% done Mig 15 model off to Razer, to see if he could find a home for it. I might slop together the 15 over the F86 so I can play Korean war . I just tweak existing models to look decent in SDOE for the heck of it. The only plane on the list from scratch is the B29 (the Mig-15 is a scale copied model from a semi-decent one off the net).

Falck.

So the 3d model and cockpit are pretty much done?

If so I wouldn't makeing a stab at it.

I'm much better at OPS stuff then modeling.

plus I love the plane of course

Kinda a P-40F update here:

Hehehe, the P-40 cockpit is no where near done. (Falck mailed me a copy of her. The panel is there, but no instruments that work or look correctly) Ive ben doing some work on her in OPS. (Got gear working correctly, fixed DOFs on some other parts, lined some parts up, got stuff working etc....) Boy was that gear a pain! I think the wheels are just a wee bit too thick, they ALMOST fit into the wing without sticking thru it, but a little bit does come thru, not that bad really. I cant make them dissapear because you could see the gear from the outside when they are folded up. On another note, she doesnt take off correctly right now. She pulls to the right too much. But I at least got it to fly if you start out in mid-air! (When I got a hold of her, it couldnt even fly. She went backwards! LoL) Also added the rest of the guns so she can at least shoot at things. This plane is great! Im having so much fun fixing her up. I cant to modeling stuff however... Just OPS maddness.

Last I heard, Falck was doing the cockpit interior and fixing the Propslow/fast and bent. Do you know anything about FMs? That needs work.

Argon, could you please post a screenshot of the cockpit as it appears to you from ops.

It looks right in my ops but not in sdoe.

Pang said he'd help with the FM when the time came. If he no longer wants to I'll give it a go.

You should just be able to hit print screen to take a screenshot of your desktop and copy it to your clipboard. Then just paste it in paint or your favorite image editor.

So thats what that clipboard program is for! (Well, its for other things too I see) Ive never messed with that before and I thought I knew Windows 98 inside and out. Here the P-40 cockpit I see in OPS and in SDOE.

Uh, oh.........

Better hide that Napster icon on your task bar. Lars Ulirch has been known to snoop around in here.
