I know that this might sound crazy but how come in nightdover terrain only the ground to be dark and not the sky ? This spoils the whole night atmosphere... Any ideas how to fix this ?

The dark sky only works in Beta65, you can't edit sky colors in the stock version. Poodle has a tutorial out thereif you can find it. If you can't, do this.

1. Open up your mission files (media/missions/dovernight) pick a mission, you'll probably have to make one.

2. Open up notepad, drag and drop that mission into notepad.

3. Find the line that says msnEnvironment.... at the end you'll see msnWindDirection... this is where you put the sky colors.

4. Here is how it goes>... msnFogColor # # # msnClearColor # # # msnFogDist # msnViewDist #... as far as the color/fog/view #'s, that is all adjustable and up to you. To get color #'s, open up paint shop and go to the custom colors to find whatever shade you like. Just plug the # # # in for your clear/fog colors.

5. Close notepad, click "yes" on the save prompt, fire up beta65 and join the wonderful world of night fighting.

You might want to turn on your HUD and radar as night fighting is rather impossible without them. Especially when you are using night skins.

I've got a doc. with a few sky colors in it so it's just cut and paste. I'll E-it to you.

If anybody else has any sky settings they would like to share (sunrise, sunset, stormy, etc.) I would love to add them to this and post it somewhere. E-me >bullet187@hotmail.com

Forgot something.... any time you open up a night mission in the mission editor you will lose your sky colors. So you'll have to re-enter them. I get my missions flying right first and then put the sky in last.

You will also notice that the airfields don't work (I think eastbourne may be the only one that does) so you'll have to start in flight. If there is a fix out there I am unaware of it.

I've also made a night skin for just about everything so if you can't find one just let me know.

Try these colors:

Dawn RGB= 253 136 102

Night RGB= 60 70 100

Stormy skies RGB= sky color=155 158 164
cloud and fog color=112 116 122
Remember to make your fog/cloud colors a bit darker so you can see them. Bullet is right in that you need to open a paint program to get the color you're looking for and WRITE THE RGB NUMBER DOWN! Once in the game you'll soon see whether it needs to be darker or lighter or just different altogether. If you have the RGB number handy while you're in Notepad, you can adjust the colors by making the numbers higher or lower. Black is 0 0 0 while total white is 255 255 255. In case you didnt know RGB stands for Red Green Blue. Experiment with the color combinations and you'll find something you may like. Post some pix when you're done!
